"You don't need to water your garden when its raining" - Water Corp.

Well, at least I know, now. Could've saved me lots of troubles, that could've!

Got up a bit after 7:30, which was a nice time.

Walked down to post some letters, and then to take out some money. I wanted $300, then realised that my account doesn't have that much. Too bad.
And, just when I was getting there, my brother rang and said that he'd changed his mind to 9 instead of 9:30. So I had to rush back and leave straight away.

Got on the train at City West. Had to actually go into the place for a while, since it was raining and we needed change. Waited 10 minutes for a train that was 5 minutes away - craziness!

Went down to Freo and went to the new (sort-of) maritime museum thingy. It was pretty boring, really - just a lot of pictures and stuff. Australia II was there, but it could've been a fake. I mean, really, its just some yacht.
They had this submarine tour (as an additional $5) which was pretty interesting. Unfortunately, cos its a tour, you can only go in certain places and don't really get to have a good look at everything. And there was this irritating French guy what had to translate everything for his two daughters, and moved really slowly. Still....

Had lunch at some little cafe down some street somewhere. I was almost tempted to have exactly the same thing as I normally have at work - they had chicken schnitzel burgers - but I had a hot dog with chips instead. And vanilla coke. It was like $10.

Then we went back to the train, cos it was 1 already and they had to catch a plane. The ride back was really boring - gee, I'd hate to do that everyday. Though, I guess, if you did, you'd have a book or something. Or talk more, perhaps?

Got back to the car just before 1:30, and drove straight out to the international airport. So I guess we got there just before 2, which was nice timing. And then my brother was off to Singapore and won't be back till Friday at 3. So I drove home. My eyes were very tired by this time, and I had a rather bad headache. Which I thought was cos of my eyes, but it turned out not to be.

And so, because I was in such pain, I made tea and watched Seinfeld. Much against my plans, this was my first caffeine thingy of the day, besides that vanilla coke. Ai.

But then my headache was far more like knives piercing my brain, so I went and lay down. I was a bit tired, too.

Got up about 4:45, and I was feeling fine. In terms of not dying, I mean. So I watched about an hour of Once Upon a Time in America. And we're now halfway through (that's 2 hours of 4) and we've only just been introduced to the two big name stars behind Robert de Niro - James Woods and Joe Pesci (I mean, how could he not be there?). I'm still waiting for something to happen, really. I mean, I'm no far of kids running around being mischievous - it just doesn't seem like good cinema to me. Its hard to believe the stuff they say and that. Like they had this scene where this like 8 year old was running in slow motion and got shot in the back and died and it was all I could do to keep from laughing.

Then I watched The Simpsons and Big Brother and a bit of 1 vs 100, but it was the same old thing.

Slept about 10:30.

Joke of the Day
Below is a photo of a picture of a submarine. Its not the one we went on, the main difference being that, at one time at least, the one we went on worked properly.

I feel sorry for Vice Admiral Sir John Collins, I really do.

"5 days? Well, today's almost over, and we leave on Friday. Weekdays always go by really fast, so its like 2 days, really." - Seinfeld

Got up about 9 and watched another episode of Seinfeld, then left just after 10.

Finished nice and early, which was nice, cos there were all these extra people coming so I wanted to get there early. Which I did. Which was nice.

Had this rather fiery guest preacher guy. It wasn't so 'end times prophecy doom', so, that was great. He kept making statements like 'we're all Asian, so we know' - um, yes.

Finally gave V back his ipod charger. He seemed to have forgotten about it.

Had Jesters for lunch, and, strangely, this was one of those weeks where there was an abundance of all pies. So I finally got the Nutty Chook and Spud Deluxe combination again. Hooray! And she almost overcharged me for it. Boo!

Watched some more Seinfeld, but just extra bits.

Then I did some accounts stuff, which took longer than I expected, cos I was just sitting there and doing some stuff, then I wanted to go watch more Seinfeld and have tea, but I had to finish the damn thing. Damn.

But I did after. Then I did some ironing.

Then there was TV, which was nearly all Big Brother with a bit of The Simpsons at the start, and a bit of Rove at the end.
Rove had that Iranian comedian lady, but she was nowhere near as good as the first time. It also had Hamish and Andy, which were nowhere near as annoying, cos they really didn't say that much.

Slept about 10:30. I had to pick my brother up at 9:30, and I had a bit of stuff to do before that. And, since my alarm only has two times, and 9 is too late, then it had to be 6. So....

"Why do we celebrate birthdays? As far as I can tell, its just congratulations for not dying for another year." - Seinfeld

Got up just before 9, which was a little later than I had planned. Oh well, I thought. I mean, what can you do, anyway?

So I had a shower and went shopping almost straight away. Bought oats and some kit-kat block thing.
And liquid soap. Good ol' liquid soap.

Got back home just before 10 and left almost straight away.

Got petrol, then went out to Garbo. Looked for parking where I usually park, but there was nothing so I went straight to behind Hoyts cos I didn't have the time to go searching.

Went to DJs and got a voucher for my brother's birthday. For some reason it took me a while to find customer service, even though I have actually been there before. And there's signs all around. I think its because at the directory they list the first floor before the ground floor, (so its 'above' it. Yes.) so I just assumed that it was on the ground floor.
Then went go GJs and got a VVL. The first few sips were kinda weird - like it hadn't mixed properly and was too cold - but then it was great. And no bitter residue at the bottom, which was nice.

So I left straight after that and got back home at 11:15. And then I sat down for about 3 minutes and left at 11:20 to pick up my brother from the hotel.
And amazingly, they were already outside, even though it was only just past 11:30.

Albany Highway out past Carousel was really packed full of cars for some reason. But we still got to the Gosnel's Hotel before 12:15. And then my parents and my grandma were 15 minutes late.

Had lunch and gave my brother presents and stuff. I had beef parmigiana, which you don't see very often, which was why I had it. It was pretty tasty. Then I had a latte, which was colder than lukewarm. And, of course, not that impressive. I also had part of a caramel sundae, which had lots of cream.

Then we went back to the house, which is really very empty now. And you'd hope so, since my parents have to be out by Monday. My brother had a look round and stuff. But since there's nothing there, there's nothing to do, neither.

So then I was gonna drive them back to the city, but they decided they were going to take a train out to Leederville or something, anyway, so I just drove them to the nearest train station. And went back home via the freeway.

Since it was then like 3:30, and we were having dinner at 7, I just watched Seinfeld. And drank tea from my new Coldplay mug. Actually, it didn't taste much different....

So went to Siena's at 7. My parents were picking up my brother, so I just drove over there at 6:45. And I left a bit late and there was insane amounts of traffic for some reason, and I missed it the first time, so I was a little late.
And then, there was no name of Triglone. So I had to give them my phone number so they could check. And it was under my mobile number, under the name 'Gerald', for some reason. Bizarro.

So I had gnocchi, cos I wasn't really feeling that hungry. And it was tasty, and a nice size. I thought it could've used some parmesan, actually, but nobody offered. They usually do....
Then, since that was pretty much almost enough, I couldn't have forced down cake, so I just got a vienna. A white vienna, this time. I didn't taste as good as they usually do, though. Strangeness.

Drove my brother back to his hotel. He still had plans for doing something on Monday, so maybe that actually will happen. Yes....

Watched another episode of Seinfeld, cos I was waiting for my computer to do something (which it didn't end up doing, anyway) and there was nothing on TV.

Slept about 10:30. Cos I woke up too early today and I was tired yesterday. Figured I'd try and catch up a bit.

"I've always liked that word 'gargantuan'. So rarely get the chance to use it in a sentance." - Elle Driver, Kill Bill vol. 2

A reference to yesterday's post.

Got up about 6:15, or something. Did a bit of exercise, but my joints are so stiff so early in the morning. Anyway, maybe cos of that I was like so tired for most of the day.

Got to work about 7:20. NewGirl was there already... apparently she misjudged the time it would take to drive to work - by about an hour.

Went down to Mogli's dad's place. Pretty boring, really.

Got back about 10:15. Still really tired, so it was pretty hard to concentrate on anything.

Had lunch there, cos I still had the stuff from yesterday.

Got home and watched a bit of Seinfeld. Then my parents and my brother said they were going to the tree-top walk thing in King's Park, so I drove over there about 2:45.

So we walked around King's Park for a while. Nice day for it, anyway.

Then I had to drive my brother back to his hotel thing, for some reason. Anyway, even though it was only just before 5, the traffic really wasn't that bad. Really.

Watched some more Seinfeld, then most of the Big Brother daily show, which is really getting pretty much exactly like how it always is - ie, crap. I doubt I shall continue watching after this Sunday.

Watched I am Sam on TV, which has its moments, but is for the most part quite a tragedy, and rather unpleasant to watch.

Slept about 11:30, cos I was planning to go shopping early tomorrow.

Below is a photo of some cup designed by Coldplay as some series for some charities or something. Courtesy of Pseudo-Unreal. The Samuel L Jackson one is also pretty cool, but I think supplies are pretty short.

This week at work - Part II

How do you get Monday on Thursday?

I've been seriously considering adding an extra two (yes! two!) posts in today, since I have two things to go on about, and I think this is going to be a ridiculously long post if I don't split it up, cos it was also quite a full day without those. But, I can't. Cos - that's cheating. And I know that I have sometimes combined days (in the past; I don't do that no more), so this would just be making up for that, really. But I still can't. So you'll just have to live with it.
I'll do subheadings - there you go.

The Simpsons

Actually, I don't think either of these will be that long.

So, seriously (no pun intended), what's with ten playing new(er) Simpsons (which, frankly, are just crap(per)) in the old Simpsons timeslot? And, let me put all my cards on the table; cos I realise that this might be my fault. I distinctly recall saying (to myself) some time ago that they can't just keep repeating seasons 2-8 (est.) ad infinitum, with the new(er) seasons (there's like a further 8 or so, now) in the Tuesday, 8 timeslot (after the brand new one at 7:30). I mean, somethings gotta give.

But please, at least, give us some sort of break - throw a classic old one in there somewhere. Cos, although we've seen them a million times - these new ones, its hard to watch them even twice. Cos, seriously, most of them suck. There's like one or two laughs in there, if you're lucky. And those damn chalkboard and couch gags - ai-yah! Especially the couch ones. From about season 9 onwards, the formula which is followed each and every time - family comes in doing something strange that wouldn't normally be done in a living room, but each separate, and something bad or different happens to Homer.

I feel a traitor to my kind when I switch off the Simpsons to watch something else - but I did it today. To a DVD of Seinfeld, for goodness sake! I can't wait until the Simpsons movie comes out, so I can not go and watch that, too. I'm beginning to agree more and more with V, that nothing good was made after 1995, or so. Of anything.

The Story

I mentioned this yesterday, but I don't think I did myself justice on the monumental tweak (oxymoron city!) I did to fix my biggest flaw in chapter one. So I thought I'd do a before and after thingy.

Before
Joe King yells into the microphone.
"Hello, Super Mouse! Come in Super Mouse!"
A bored voice cackles through.
"Hello. Stop calling us when you've got nothing to report."
"But CQuaker said..."
"Ignore that. CQuaker apologises for saying it. Don’t report unless you’ve got something to report."
"FINE! BYE!"
Joe King slams down the microphone. Bill Splerk exclaims that it’s obvious that a small toaster costs less than a sofa. Joe King yells at Bill Splerk. The contestant, saying that the sofa is cheaper, wins a car. Bill Splerk swears and whacks Joe King across the ear. Joe King changes channel. Bill Splerk turns red with fury and swivels around with fists raised. Joe King jumps around, screaming murder.

After
Joe King calls excitedly into the microphone.
"Um…righto then. Over and out."
Joe King slowly puts down the microphone. He then stares strangely out the side window, wondering if his whole life has been a lie. Bill Splerk exclaims that it’s obvious that a small toaster costs less than a sofa. Joe King says that toasters aren’t really the things that are important right now. Bill Splerk yells at Joe King. The contestant, saying that the sofa is cheaper, wins a car. Bill Splerk swears and whacks Joe King across the ear. Joe King changes channel. Bill Splerk turns red with fury and swivels around with fists raised. Joe King jumps around, screaming murder.

Yeah, actually it don't look that impressive. But believe me - it was a moral victory.
Joe - 1. Writer's Block - 0. At least, in this instance....

The...um...actual day

Got up at 6:07 - approximately. Actually managed to do some form of cardio thing for about 15 minutes, or so? Anyway.

Then, despite me taking what seemed to be way too long in the shower - cos I washed extra hard (as I felt sweaty) and cleaned my teeth extra hard (cos my breath was noticeably...dry) and shaved a long time (cos my face was wet, and it was three days already) - it was still like 7:05 by the time I was ready.
And then I should've had breakfast. Ai. I think I was trying to conserve milk. And then I'll just end up throwing part of it away, I know. Had some orange juice at least. And made lunch. Although it turned out to be pointless. But at least then it was only just before 7:30 when I got to work.

I warned you about the length of this....
...then again, what could you do?
Yah, boo! I win.

On Tuesday, when I left, I didn't have any work. And, for some reason, none had magically materialised. So I just stayed around making inane chatter with Mogli (for, like, something completely different) until 9, when circumstances (called legs) led me to go to the only existing partner (bar that other guy - no pun intended) to ask for work. So he gave me some of Mogli's stuff to do. Which he was saying he was going to give me anyway on Tuesday afternoon as like a joke! Ironic....

New Girl brought up the subject of a radio out the back, to drown out the noise of me and Mogli, she said. Seriously, if you knew me - 'talkative' would be at the bottom of your list of my characteristics, I'm sure.
Anyway, so WAB? came back and gave his usual non-committive type answer. He himself said - "I didn't say 'yay' or 'nay'". So, who knows, really? As it seems to be in the office - just do it!
And wait till someone fires you.
Or, more appropriately, doesn't give you a pay review.....

We're not even up to 10AM yet....

It was W&'s last day - much to the dismay of a great many people - and so we had to have morning tea. Unfortunately, due to the skeleton staff, whoever it is that normally organises these things was AWOL. Or something. Anyway, so the food didn't actually appear until 11:15. And it was overcatered, so I took it on myself to eat more than my share. I mean, you suffer, but its for a good cause...

Then the coffee guy showed up about 12, as is his want, but due to something - either the recent food or the accompanying tea to that food (or the fact that his coffee is......), I didn't say nothing. And then, 20 minutes later, I say to Mogli that I kinda wanted a coffee. And he says he does to. So we arrange to go down to West Perth and have coffee at lunch, since we're not hungry due to the late morning tea and the overcatering. So I went to the bathroom to have a sleep and forget about it.

And then he tells me that he's invited the whole rest of the firm, as is his want. Which I was expecting, anyway. And New Girl continued with her left field throws by not coming, although all the other back people, plus WAB? (so that's all the accountants below partners) went along.

So we (inc. W&, of cos, and his GF - hehe!) ended up at Coast Cafe, one of many almost exactly like it. I got a Vienna (although I forgot to say white, and they didn't ask, so it was black - which actually wasn't that bad, although it probably should've been) and this bigass chocolate muffin - which they didn't heat up. And, although they provided a knife, they didn't provide butter. Confusing. Mogli got a skinny latte, and said that he reckoned it was a normal one watered down. Also had fries - which were $6 for a tiny little bowl. But Mogli seemed to be happy enough paying for it....
And so, most of the conversation was how bad the firm was, but in a positive way, like its just gonna get better. Cos, see, this is what the conversation must be like when you invite everyone else along. Like those Big Brother people say - you can't just be yourself. Ugh.....

The afternoon was a lot like most other afternoons - us sitting around trying to stay awake. I ran out of work again at 3:42, but something else appeared - or, more precisely, was violently dumped on my desk by the receptionist who has no time for Mogli since Tuesday (and thus me by association, I guess). And that kept me going to just before 5:30, when I left. Still, lucky I've got an appointment with Mogli's dad tomorrow, cos it won't last me much longer.

New Girl kept throwing those left field passes, by telling W& he should stop working, cos that's what she did after lunchtime on her last day when she left her old place. Even though she's like the most workaholic person I've ever seen in my life...

Home, and I was expecting an hour of Big Brother, followed straight away by My Name is Earl, followed straight away by SVU. Well, Big Brother was half an hour, My Name is Earl was replaced (for reasons obscure....) by Air Crash Investigations, and SVU was replaced by the two hour finale of The Biggest Loser. So there was really nothing to watch.

The Simpsons at 6, as noted, was an episode I'd seen before, and once was enough, thank you very much. So I watched Seinfeld. Which was great, really.
It was so great, I actually missed the time and missed half of the Big Brother daily show. But it wasn't that good - just people being bitches, really. And I get enough of that at the office! Where, incidentally, we have our own Big Brother.... only he's away at the moment.

So I started writing this blog at 9 and finished at 10:15. Well, I didn't start at 9. But, I could've said that, and you probably would've believed me.

I did truly finish at 10:15. And then slept.

At the going down of the sun......etc

Look, I'm all for wars and stuff - but I can't stand that poem. Please stop reading it! Its not really that good, and I'm sure there's something better, somewhere. At least, choose a different section, or something. Someone?
At least I almost got through the whole day without hearing it - until Big Brother, of all things. Ironic...

Got up about 9:15, which was a pretty nice time.

Since it was a public holiday, there was nothing open, so I stayed at home all day. I did go outside once, as I recall (or maybe twice) to put rubbish in the bin. Fascinating.

Watched quite a bit of Seinfeld. Had breakfast at like 11, and lunch at 3.

Watched a bit more of Once Upon a Time in America. As I suspected would happen, the action has suddenly slackened right off - though they've kept up with the nudity. And references to it.

Watched Sopranos season 6 part 2 episode 3, which was pretty slow moving, cos it just focused on Junior, Tony and Paulie. But the New York guy got shot lots at the end very Godfather style (in more ways than one), so that helped. A bit. Only 6 left now - who knows what is going on.'

Watched The Simpsons, then Big Brother, then more Simpsons. I need to complain about the Simpsons - maybe tomorrow. Big Brother? Nyeh. Nothing really going on. But its still watchable. I'm going for Christian Girl, but I doubt she'll last the first eviction. Especially since there are no Asians - hah!

Then it was kinda late, but not late enough. So I looked at my story, and it filled me with joyness, for two reasons:
  1. I'm really not happy with chapter 1 - it seems very juvenile, because the reactions of the characters is not realistic, and often doesn't fit in with their character. But I've been trying to adjust it (in a significant sense) for the past 5 years or so, without success. And today, I managed to seriously correct the bit which was probably the most glaringly bad. And it didn't take much either - just a slight tweaking to adjust the line then bring it back. If you understand....
  2. I had given myself an ultimatum at the end of chapter...lets say 11, which should've been resolved by the end of chapter 12. But chapter 12 was already too long, so I had to delay it until chapter 13. But this section had been one of the slowest moving - its been years. And I believe I have arrived at a satisfactory solution to it, which almost seems predestined by the rest of the story. And, really, I got the idea from Big Brother! Ironic.....
Slept about 10. I was planning to wake up early, cos Mogli inspired me with his tales of early morning exercise. And whether I really believe it or not.....

Public holidays - they'd be better if people were at work. But then.....

Homer: "Grand Funk Railroad paved the way for Jefferson Airplane, which cleared the way for Jefferson Starship.

The stage was now set for the Alan Parsons Project, which I believe was some form of hovercraft..."

I am considering buying the Jefferson Airplane album Surrealistic Pillow. But I'm not sure, so thought I might get a greatest hits instead. And, when browsing, I discovered that there was one big greatest hits thing where they combined Jefferson Airplane, Jefferson Starship and Starship, since they are all the same band, really.... And Starship did 'We built this city' and 'Sara'. Fascinating.

Got up about 6:50. Too early again, probably. Made lunch, and it was still too early. Posted a letter, and it was still too early - but only just.

Didn't do any work for about the first 2 hours, partly due to the normal not doing work thing, but mostly due to Mogli wanting help with his newly appointed role (in an official sense) of Accru Organising Guy.
So first was the Accru staff bulletin for April, which only arrives a month later. And the Perth arm is very pathetic. And it still was pathetic - but, y'know, we made up as much stuff as possible.
And then he was organising the staff getaway to Rottnest in June. And trying to make everybody happy - I told him it would never work. Ai...

Went down to the local shop at lunch, but only cos Mogli is too scared of looking like a loner. I was half thinking about getting a Giant Sandwich, but decided that I didn't really feel like one. Then after I'd eaten lunch I decided that I should've gotten one. Too bad, I guess.

Then in the afternoon Mogli was having a sad about having to do phones on Thursday. But he went and complained about it, and the receptionist was fired, or something. People dropping like flies around here.

Left at 5. Mainly cos I hadn't had any thing to do since about 3.

It was raining again, which was nice, but it didn't really last that long into the evening. I spent most of the night having to convince myself over and over that it was a holiday tomorrow. I finally managed to do it by watching a Sienfeld marathon (the first 5 episodes of season 1 inc. the pilot) straight - although I paused for Big Brother and The Simpsons in the middle.

A Big Brother wasn't that good - cos it was really just the bits what they showed yesterday. Nyeh.
The Simpsons wasn't that good, either. It was the three stories in one thing.
Seinfeld was good, tho....

Discovered after that that the music videos converted by itunes are fine - except that they are without sound. Which is really just great. One day, I'll figure out the logic behind that; for now its beyond me.

Slept about 11:30.

Watching life in High Definition

Yes. I have new glasses.

Got up just before 10. Too late again, huh? Oh, well.

Went straight down to Just Spectacles in Subi to pick up new specs. They made me dizzy. Probably cos things are too clear. Right.

Did the rest of my ironing while watching the rest of Fiddler on the Roof. I guess its not all so depressing. Still, the earlier bit is better. Well, nicer, anyway. Less depressing. But that's kinda the point, I suppose. Yes.

Went to work, still wearing glasses, cos Mogli said I should. Yes. I really should stop listening to him. But doesn't he look so handsome now with that long overdue haircut? Um...no comment.

Did some work today. Some. Y'know. More than usual, probably.

Left at 5. Earlier than that, probably, cos I got home by like 5:10.

Watched The Simpsons, with that great song:
this log is your log, this log is my log, when lightening struck it, it kicked the bucket....
this log it used to be a tree
now it spreads love to you and me
oh look, its heading out to see
And the Matrix rip-off/homage.

Then watched the 1.5 hour Big Brother 'Game On' (oooh, scary!) special, where there are two people what are married, and were married on 22.4.06, which is the same as 13 & o. So I rang 13 and told him he was famous. He didn't sound very impressed.
And then, since none of the other housemates know, but they're supposed to find out, they introduced this Mr X guy who is an ex-boyfriend of the wife and they only split up due to distance and she didn't know he'd be going in and he's supposed to try and reveal them.
So, it might be interesting....for all of a week, anyway. Like every other year.

Then I watched 1 vs 100, but the lady on 1 vs 7 took the $150,000 and that was it. I mean, hello?
Entertainment? Forget it!

Slept about 10:30.

"Oh, and its raining again..." - Moby

Mainly cos it was quite a shock, y'know....

Got up at 9. Actually woke up earlier, I think - donno.

Watched a tiny bit of the first bit of the chronological version of Memento. Then I had to leave it on pause, cos the only commands that work are pause, play and stop - you can't fast forward or nothing.

So I left a bit after 10, which I thought would be enough time to do everything, but it wasn't. So I left when they started the baptism ceremony to finish off the rest. Though that only took a few minutes, really, and then they'd really only just started - but I left anyway.

And Jesters had the spud deluxe, but not the nutty chook, so I got a jumbuck instead, which is lamb. Which was OK - nothing special. The footy pie is better.

Watched the rest pf the chronological version of Memento. Anyway, so on the whole it was pretty boring. Interesting seeing the closing credits in reverse though (yes), and the opening credits in proper order, cos that first bit is reversed in the normal one.

During the show, which is kinda a thriller, so its a bit nervy to begin with, there was this most unexpected ridiculously loud like right overhead thunderclap. Probably the loudest I've ever heard - especially out of the blue, like it was. It was barely even cloudy at the time.

Watched The Simpsons, then they had the Biggest Loser and Big Brother, so I watched the start of Fiddler on the Roof instead, right up until the end of the wedding, which is where it starts to get pretty depressing.

Then I went to watch Rove at 9:30, but it must've started at 9 (or a bit past), cos I had missed the opening tirade and the news and Peter Hellier. Still, there was no Hamish and Andy, so that was nice. Though Merrick and Rosso were like taking their place, and they were no good, neither.

I was downloading some stuff, but also feeling pretty tired.
Slept about 11:30.

Homer: "Mmmm, unprocessed fish sticks!"

Got up about 10. Ah. Spent most of (the rest of) the morning removing more duplicate songs and that from itunes. Also trying to convert my old protected WMAs that are not yet converted, which was not possible, so I'm gonna have to download them again. With what? I donno....

Then I watched the rest of 16 Blocks, which was OK, but pretty typical action kinda show - ie, there was all these times when it was like 'well, why didn't they just....'. But it had its moments, I suppose. The acting was pretty good. I thought Mos Def did well, but his character was irritating. And I didn't really buy the friendship that supposedly developed.

Went shopping about 2:30, and forgot to buy oats, cos I kinda felt like I might want some in the near future - its probably not quite cold enough yet, I guess.

Was doing salaries (off and on) for a lot of the afternoon - it takes time, and its all this repetitive stuff, so I get bored pretty easy and need to do something else for a while.

Then I started watching Once Upon a Time in America, which, after like 5 minutes (of a 4 hour show), we'd had high-level violence, language, nudity and drug use. And I dare say a few adult themes thrown in for good measure.

Then I watched TV, cos Bring it On was on. Kirsten Dunst's best role, I'm sure. Great film, that one.
Then I was switching between The Birdcage, Frequency, Rockwiz and Hollow Man.

Slept about 12:30.

Homer: "Mmmm, open faced club sand wedge!"

Got up about 6:50, feeling really tired again. Still got to work too early...

Doing some work and stuff. That was great.

Went for lunch to that Edo place in Subi again with Mogli and WorkB. Got a Pepsi in a glass bottle, which was nice.

Watched episode 16 of Heroes, which was a lot better than episode 15. But the last few episodes have been so negative - its just all bad stuff going on. Jessica is beating Nicki, Hiro has abandoned Ando, Mr Isaac just shot that black girl while fighting with Peter, and the whole Bennett family is in tatters. While stupid Professor Suresh is travelling around with Syler and wondering why people are dying. Sigh....

Drove to FCC then, cos I had to get the new chequebook so I could do all the salary stuff tomorrow. That was fun.

Then I started watching 16 Blocks, but its a bad copy and I didn't see that much of it before I had to leave.

Went for dinner with ex-Crawley people (actually, two were current Crawley people) - V, Marv, Ange and myself. We went to Bateman Chinese Restaurant, which I remember as being slow. And it was slow. But the food was pretty tasty.

Then the plan was to watch some DVD, so we went to Civic Video on Leach Highway. And it took some time to pick something, as I suspected. In the end we got Miami Vice, which V had already seen but he said he wouldn't mind watching it again.

And then we got back to V's house, but his youngest sister and her people were doing the Singstar thing in the media room, so we had to watch it on crappy little upstairs TV. So it was probably better than it appeared, since we couldn't really hear a lot of it or make out what was going on.

So that finished about 12, then I went home and went to sleep. My eyes were tired.

AFL Tri-bu-nal: PN. a place where the normal laws of logic have no place. See; lottery, chaos theory, juries in mafia cases.

Lets not say anymore, shall we?

Got up at 6:50. Was again ready prior 7:30, even after making half lunch.

Still, did lots of work today. Well, comparatively, at least.

Went down to the local shop at lunch. Because I only brought half my lunch, I was planning to buy something small (re: cheap). So I decided on a hot chicken roll - but it turned out that was $4.90, so I thought about a hot dog instead, cos that was only $3.50. So I asked the guy, and he said it would be 10 minutes. And that it would be a round roll (???). So I just got a $2.40 giant sandwich instead, cos I actually wasn't feeling that hungry. Oh well.

Feeling pretty tired in the afternoon again. Though it was a different sort of tired than yesterday - the type that can't be cured by sleep. Anyway...

Left about 5:15. I was kinda in the middle of entering some bank statements, otherwise I mighta left earlier.

Watched The Simpsons, then episode 15 of Heroes, which I finally got from Mogli. Also have 16, but I'm saving that for tomorrow. Great.
Anyway, it wasn't a great episode. No Peter Petrelli and his invisible man. Lots of people coming irritatingly close to doing something but not doing it. As usual, etc.

Watched My Name is Earl, which also wasn't up to its usual standard. But that might've been (partly at least) due to that it was a double (at least) episode, with 'to be continued' at the end. At least, I assume, cos it was actually in Spanish.
And Randy, being all assertive and serious! Oi veh!

Then watched SVU, which was actually above the usual standard for this season, though maybe that's just because Olivia is back. I donno....it was OK. Its still really not very great.

Then mainly I was just going through this pile of junk on my desk, and laughing at the stupid CA Magazine what is trying to say that CAs are cool cos they're on the boards of AFL clubs. It is so unbelievably lame.....

Slept about 10:30.

Po-e-tic Li-cense: N. where you say whatever the ____ you want and claim that its some form of high art, when its really a defamation suit in waiting

See; blog postings.

Got up at 7, which is irritating, cos today I needed to be earlier, unlike stoopid yesterday. Ai. I blame the radio, cos they had good music yesterday.... well, OK. It was 'Life in a Northern Town' by Dream Academy - its got that great chorus what they used for Sunchyme. And they played The Animal Song by Savage Garden as well. Nyeh.

Anyway, so I had to make lunch - well, maybe not, cos I don't think I have enough bread for tomorrow - and thus I didn't even leave the house till about 7:40.

I guess it didn't really matter anyway, cos I'm just so brilliantly efficient. Sometimes. Anyway, so I was back by 12. And I got a mocha from the coffee guy. And, as expected, it so wasn't worth waiting 6 days for. Shoulda saved my money and got a giant sandwich instead.

And the caffeine did like nothing neither, cos I was battling to stay awake in the afternoon. Though I was woken up quite well after me and Mogli did a White Rabbit duet. Yes. I think if you worked where we do, you'd understand the lengths that must be taken to keep yourself on this side of eternity... ie alive.

I offered to trade my CA for a CPA for $100 sometime around there. Unfortunately I don't think no one's got the power to do that.

Left at 5:30, after finishing one superfund (for real this time) and starting another. And so, round and round it goes.

Watched The Simpsons, but again no more TV. Although I did watch The Sopranos Season 6 Part 2 Episode 2 (it really is a bit much), which was a considerable improvement on episode 1. Almost like it had been done by a completely different group of people, really. However, a lot of it felt like they were just rehashing scenes from previous seasons, notably the NY power struggle of season 5, and Chrissy beating up on his rehab 'buddy' of season 4. Plus they're bringing up the Adrianna and Tony Blundetto thing again.... I donno. I'm trying set myself up for a major disappointment, cos I can't see that the story is leading anywhere but.

Did some more accounts in there somewhere. Finally finished March. And its halfway through April already. That's life, I guess.

Slept about 10:30.

Bart: "I coulda been president but I'm too real"

I never knew that sticker on my wallet was a quote from an actual episode. Its especially confusing, though, cos this is a vision of future Bart (the honorary secretary for keeping it real), and the picture of him on that sticker is current Bart.
And, damn, Matt's referencing stoopid Stanley Kubrick again, with the ghosts in the bar scene from The Shining. And I was just talking about 2001 today (with some other Matt) and how stupidly impossible it would be to have a conversation with an 8 minute delay.

Got up about 6:40. Which was nice. Not sure why....
I was thus ready way too early. Even making lunch, it was still before 7:30. Went to work anyway, after posting some long overdue letters.
Ended up starting work before 8. Ew.... Still, I slackened off after 8:15, so that was OK.

Had long training. It really just went on and on. In an uncomfortable sort of way. That, and the stuffy boardroom.

Went down to Mogli's dad's place after that. Spent most of the time trying to get administrator privileges on the machine so I could try and siphon some money off to my overseas accounts. And if you don't know what siphon means, look it up on dictionary.com, cos they use almost the exact same example there.
Anyway, it didn't work, cos he was still angry at me cos Mogli had told me to call him an idiot, and he didn't really think it was funny.

Came back just in time for lunch. Thank god for that, eh?

And in the afternoon, I finished off some superfund. Well, actually not quite. But it was close.

Left at 5. I had to, see, cos I was giving Mogli back his computer. So, I mean, I wanted to stay at work, really. These circumstances are beyond my control.

Watched The Simpsons, but that was it. Cos I had threatening emails from church people re: accounts, so I had to finish them off. And I didn't. But I got close.

Slept about 10:30.

Indian Casino Guy: "Your linen service has broken many promises to us. Laundry bill soar like eagle!"

Ah, those crazy Indians! Um....

Got up about 9:30, which was probably a little later than I wanted. Nyaf.

Managed to finally start doing the accounts again from like mid-March. Ah. Then I went down to have lunch and forgot them, so had to hurry and finish before I left for work. So I was a bit late.

Still, I managed to get all my music sorted out and that. So the computer is pretty much back to normal. Which is nice.

Also watched a little more of the Battle of China. Which, really, is quite dull. I think the patronising US makers of the film, despite the narrator's earnest pleas to the contrary, don't really care about the war in the Pacific till that whole Pearl Harbour thing. Australia, for instance, didn't crack a mention, though Singapore, Malaysia, 'south-eastern' Asia and general Pacific islands were breezed over.

Work was fairly busy, which was nice. Actually, it turned out to be a little too busy, cos The Evil Partner wanted stuff done and he kept coming back even though it was about 5:20. So I just hurriedly ran away before starting the tax return.

Watched The Simpsons, then the rest of the Battle of China. Then I did some more accounts before The Melbourne Comedy Festival Gala (blech - don't festival and gala mean the same thing?). Watched a bit of 1 vs 100 inbetween, but it was this horribly irritating lady.
There were some pretty funny acts. I especially like the Persian lady with the funny name. And Tim Minchin and the other keyboard guy was good. Even Peter Hellier had his moments. And Dave Hughes wasn't as offensive (to the senses) as he usually is.

Slept about 11:30. Another hard night getting to sleep.

"Moisture is the essence of wetness" - Zoolander

Yes.... it was raining today. Pretty steadily.

Actually kept waking up kinda thing - woke up at 8 something for sure. And I wasn't that tired. Weirdness.

I was looking at the clouds, and thinking about the report that it would rain, but I didn't take my umbrella. Which was unfortunate, cos after I was waiting outside and looking at the steadily non-ceasing rain and thinking how far it away my car was...
Lucky Leo and 'that footy team guy' came along, and their car was in the local parking lot, and they were driving over to Taurus. Nice.

I was expecting to see lots of accidents, what with the like first rainy day of the year, but there was just some motorbike on the freeway just past the Leach Highway on ramp.
Then just before the traffic lights for Hackett drive in the left lane of Mounts Bay road there was some broken down car with lights flashing. And then, straight after that, when stopped at the Winthrop Avenue, some car, which was being driven by a uni student (wearing the UWA Sports Centre shirt) which was turning from Winthrop onto Mounts Bay must've taken the corner too fast or something, cos it did a complete 180 degree skid spin. Trippy.

I figured, due to the rain and general winery weather, that Jesters would be full of pies. And it was - there was plenty of everything....except my two favourites. So I got a Footy and a Ned Kelly. Probably should've tried the lamb one, in hindsight. Ah.

Started watching The Godfather, cos Tree's berating of it on Tuesday only convinced me more what a wonderful film it is. So I sat there with the windows wide open - ah, lovely rainy sound. Such paradise. Heh.

So between watching The Godfather, I was sorting my songs and generally doing computer stuff - like updating my finance records, cos it hadn't been done for like two weeks. I ended up losing $5.30....ai.

Watched Rove, which was OK, y'know. That guest comedian was pretty funny. Or mentally unstable.

Then I was doing more computer stuff, including converting some of my mpg videos to m4v, which apparently itunes can do itself. Which is nice.

Slept about 1.

Stonecutter Plumber: "Well, the parts won't arrive for at least a month. And that's if I order them today. Which I won't."

How ironic....

Got up about 9 or something.

Tried ringing the computer place again, where someone eventually managed to tell me that they were in the process of building a new system, but no-one had told me about it. So, yeah.

Watched Memento, partly while I was planning to iron some black shirt from like 2 weeks ago, but it had all these washing stains on it, anyway, so that was pointless.
Mainly wanted to watch it just so I could refresh my memory so I can watch it in chronological order sometime later. Hah.

Then I was just about to go and do shopping when the main computer guy (finally) rang back and said that it was basically done. So I left at about 1:45 to take the old one out there.

Everything was done by 4, so I must've hung around there for like 1:30+. How time doesn't fly when you're just standing around waiting for data to transfer....
And I overheard that the old next door store was being liquidated. So that just fills me with confidence. This damn machine had better work now.

So I got back and was pretty much forced (by time) to go shopping straight away. Bought peanut M&M's. But not much else interesting. However, I was feeling very starving.

So got back and started transferring data between harddrives, cos the new big one is now partitioned. And that was gonna take like 75 minutes, which was more time that I had before going to a birthday.
Watched part of the derby. Bah. Football. Well, the Dockers just suck. As if we needed further proof.

So went for birthday party thing at Jade Restaurant in Northbridge. And I got to be a part of the 'happy table', which was mainly three uncles who were toasting everything and generally being boisterous. And every time another uncle came wandering over he had to toast as well. And, of course, there were an extra two of those loud Chinese toast thingys, above and beyond the three involving everybody.
The guy next to me was trying to convince me to join their soccer team on Sunday afternoons - which appears to be made of the old(er) people. He was also volunteering to lead everyone home so they could escape the breathalyser.

Got home about 10:30. My computer had finished copying (great) so I tried iTunes, and, even though I had to reinstall it, it had kept all my ratings. Hooray! Now I just have to go through them and copy them to the other ones.....ai.

Slept past 1. Due to the above.

"That is one magic loogie" - Seinfeld.

Yeah, Jerry does a better Kevin Costner impersonation.

Got up about 6:45. I knew it was too early. Ah... cos its casual day, y'see?

Apparently there was some big client who was deciding to take their business elsewhere, so there were all these archive boxes which had to be moved, and me and Mogli got the job of taking them from downstairs to upstairs. Not that it was very hard, but different, yeah?

Went for lunch with Mogli to KFC cos he wanted to try the filler. And I tried to tell him that it was really very....filling... but he didn't really listen and got the meal anyway, then couldn't finish. And we both got the fireball one, which wasn't really that good. Oh well. Also had to park like on the Jesters road corner, cos of insane amounts of traffic.

Rang the computer people again and left a message. Yeah, well, that didn't really do much good.

Watched the rest of JFK, and there was still quite a long way to go. It really is very good, though the ending is a bit of an anti-climax, cos he just loses his case and that's it. No real victory at all.

Then watched A Beautiful Mind, which is pretty OK, but feels a bit fake, really. Plus all the lighted stuff kinda irritates me a bit, cos its like, wtf is he doing? Which is sorta the point, I suppose. Anyway. Ed Harris is good.... pity he doesn't really exist.

Watched an episode of Entourage at night, and also episode 1 of season 6 part 2 of The Sopranos, both from Mogli what were on his computer. The Sopranos....it was good, though still probably not leading anywhere that's gonna be satisfying. But, for a season opener, which I guess it technically wasn't, it was pretty pathetic. Just as the last season closer, which, for the same reason, technically wasn't, was also very anti-climatical.
Also watched Russell Peters, but it was the same one I'd seen before. I found it full of non-funniness.

Slept about 11 or so. Have music now on this computer, but nout much else.

Homer: "So, they have the internet on computers now?"

Got up about 6:50, being very tired again. Made more floury lunch.

Me and Mogli were both hanging out for a coffee today, planning on getting mochas, and then the guy just didn't show up. Typicalness.

We had lunch and the TV was even more boring than usual, and it was warm outside, so we walked down to the corner shop to get icecream, which was the giant sandwich - only $2.40 each, compared to Mogli previously getting charged $2 for a frosty fruit. And, damn, those things are tasty. Too bad they are quite small. But biscuit and icecream - how can you lose, really?

Managed to find out that the computer people had, like, moved next door (what the???), so had a different phone number. So rang them and they said they'd ring back. Well, they didn't.

And the afternoon was even quieter than usual, cos there was Webb Martin training, and a whole lot of people left. And they did it really weird like, cos Mogli was at jury duty last month when he was rostered to go, but then he didn't have to go this time neither. I wanted to go...and I should've, really, cos they paid for four and only three went.

Went home and hung around there for a little bit. Then went out to Mogli's house, cos he had some old computer that he was lending me, due to mine still being out of commission.

Then went to 13 & o's house, where they tricked me into going to cell by bribing me with food. Ah.
Still, it wasn't that bad. Yeah. Groovy.

Went back home at about 10:45 and slept nearly straight away. Forgot to bring the computer bits inside...

Wednesday, April 11, 2007

Millhouse: "We're through the looking glass here, people...."

I have to say, Millhouse does a pretty poor Kevin Costner impersonation...

Got up about 6:50, but "I was quite tired" (as Crash Test Dummies said) and my contact lens wasn't fitting properly. Made lunch. It was floury.

Found out today on IMDB quite by accident that Nicholas Cage changed his surname, cos he's actually the nephew of Francis Ford Coppola. Amazing.

Another really quite slow afternoon. Should I be surprised?

Watched a few more minutes of JFK, but then had to go and get dinner at KFC, again. So I got the Caesar filler, and that only, which was enough food, but not heaps.

Then had to go for CMC meeting, which I expected to go for long, and it did. I left at 10:45, and it was still going fairly strongly.

Slept about 11:30.

"Its just an eye. The gods saw fit to grace me with a spare" - 300

Got up about 6:45, or so. Had breakfast, then went to drop my car off at City Toyota....in Northbridge.

Got a lift back to the office with Mogli. Thus, I was late. Like I cared.

For some reason the air-con wasn't working, which made for a really lovely first half hour or so. Then it started working again. So hooray.

Didn't do much work in the early morning. I did go to Amazon and register an interest for the DVD release of 300 and The Sopranos season 6 part 2 - cos the actual details are not yet available, even for preordering and that.

Got a call from the glasses people, who said that due to my eyes being more screwed than previously stated, my glasses would be an extra $50 and look more crap.
Also got a call from my mother who got some non-descript email which apparently had no sender's address with a shonky attachment, so I said it was probably a virus. Then it turned out that it wasn't. Oh, well.

Bought my lunch from the local shop place. Had a chicken schnitzel burger again, but a freshly made one this time. The chicken was really nice and crispy, cos it had obviously been sitting in that warming tray thing for a few days.
Then got a lift with Mogli back to the car repair place. Had to pay them like $400. Ai. Everyone's rich except me.
At least its clean now.....

Went to sleep in the afternoon. Well, actually I didn't. But it would've been nice.

Left at about 5:15.

Went to Coles and did shopping. Tried to buy steak, but their selection was very limited and they didn't have the nice cheap stuff. Also, forgot to buy snacks. All I have is little eggs.

After The Simpsons, started watching JFK. I was planning to start making dinner, then V had his sudden change of mind and decided to go and watch 300. So I had to go buy KFC, and lucky I saw the ad for that filler thing which is suddenly back again. So I had the meal cos I thought I was hungry. And it was way too much, of course.

V didn't have a car, so I went to his house to give him a lift. And I was too early, so we got there like 15 minutes before. And then Tree came along as well. He still has my DVD from last June.

So the film was pretty good. The fighting scenes were especially impressive, and there was the odd quip remark about how much they liked dying. But parts of it were really a bit silly, and the story in general was quite formulaic and dull.

Then V had locked his keys in his car at Koorong in Mt Lawley, so I had to drive him over there, cos he had a spare set. And no one had stolen it - so that was good I guess.

Slept about 11:45.

"How'd you get this number?" - Michael Douglas, The Game

Got up too late, which was like 10:15, or something. Thus I didn't leave till after 11.

And there was this big traffic jam, of course. So I didn't get back home till like 2:30. Ai.

At least I got to have tea. And bunny.

And then, cos my computer don't work and I don't have nothing to do, I watched DVD's. Three, to be exact.

The first was O Brother Where Art Thou?, which is really great.
Then I watched Sixth Sense, which is also really great.
Then I watched The Game, which is also really great. What a lot of greatness. Also noticed that The Game, which is part of the mega-trilogy of that director (After Se7en and before Fight Club) has White Rabbit by Jefferson Airplane as the 'creepy' song when Michael Douglas turns on the lights in his house after it is vandalised. I never realised that before. Kinda takes away some of the creepiness, actually, cos its such a cool song.

Also watched The Simpsons, which was another one of those old, but not quite so old episodes. There's more and more like that, now.

And 1 vs 100, which is just getting irritating, cos everyone always quits after like question 5 cos they've used up their lifelines but have about $50,000. Ai.

Slept about 10:30.

Marge: "Happy Love Day everyone!"

Ooohhh....cynical!

Got woken up by pouring rain last night. Though it only ended up being 5mls, or so.
Then it was off and on raining the whole day. And it was pretty darn cold.

Watched part of Handel's Messiah, cos I was just about to watch Pirates of the Carribean: Dead Man's Chest (ie, numbero duo), but then that was on and my mum wanted to watch it. Ah.

So then I watched POTC:DMC (IEND), which was quite stoopid. And it didn't finish properly. Though Johnny Depp was funny, but it was just the same sort of funny as in numero uno, and probably not as good, though I don't remember numero uno that well, cos it still wasn't THAT good.

Then I read some book, or something. I donno. Nyeh.

Watched some more of As Time Goes By, which must be nearly all of it.

Then I watched The Simpsons, which was nice, cos it felt like back home. Sigh.

Then that was it for TV, cept for some documentary and some ABC drama based on some book that noones ever heard of.

Then there was cricket. Nuff said.

Freckled teen filling in for Leonard Nemoy: "Keep watching the skees.... I mean, skies"

It was supposed to be showery in the afternoon/evening (in Perth, at least), so I kept 'watching the skies', but it all proved kinda pointless. There was no rain before I slept.

Got up about 10.

Watched lots of episodes of As Time Goes By, cos my grandma had season 4 on video - as a present, or something. Nice time wasting, really. But Judi Dench is so talented, isn't she? Yes.

Read some more book, but not that much more. Was mainly doing these puzzle things. It was great, really.

Went for the Easter vigil at 7pm. Lucky it didn't rain, cos the first part is outside with a fire. They don't seem to be terribly organised down there, to me.
Was greatly shocked when they sang 'Shine Jesus Shine' as the closing song. It would've been the highlight, since this was supposed to be a service for the children, so all the rest of the songs were horribly juvenile. Easy to pick up, maybe, but not very inspiring.

Went back and had dinner - so that was about 9pm.

Then watched the rest of Tears of the Sun, after Iron Chef and Rockwiz, on which they had Bob Geldof playing Pink on The Wall as a question. Hah! I knew that!
Anyway, I'd seen Tears of the Sun before, but its a lot better than most of those other films of similar lean - ie Black Hawk Down, Behind Enemy Lines. Unfortunately, I missed the start, and that's considerably better than the end.

"Alone! All alone!" - Calvin & Hobbes

Ai, being down south....what can I say?

Got up about 10, or so. Looked at all the chickens and around the block and that. Its too dry and stuff - the dam is completely dried up, what I've never seen like that before.

Read quite a bit of The Silmarillion. Yeah, its OK. Trouble is it doesn't really feel like its going anywhere - just a whole bunch of short stories, really. So it seems.

Went for the Good Friday service at 3. It wasn't quite as solemn as I was expecting... There was some Indian priest guy.

Watched most of Bad Taste, which is Peter Jackson's (Lord of the Rings, King Kong) first film, apparently. With these really bad actors with really bad New Zealand accents. I mean, I'm sure they were genuine accents, but they sounded really bad. Anywhere, so they were fighting aliens which were like zombies which apparently wanted to take over Earth for their fast food chain. I donno - I was only half watching it. It was really quite B-movieish.

After dinner watched Anywhere But Here, which, really, was as bad as I hoped it wouldn't be. Ah... This mother/daughter thing. Like a Gilmore Girls movie, or something. I'm sure FD would love it.

Moe: "...and this is Cecil Hamptons on Cecil Cecil"

I think V was thinking of me not being able to wake up in time for work if we watched 300 last night, cos of the whole 'getting home at 3AM' thing. Well, I am vindicated, cos I went to bed at like 12, but ended up sleeping in and being late, anyway. Hah! Yeah! Shows how much he knows!
So after getting up at 7:30, and someone else was in the shower, so, try as I might, I couldn't get to work till 8:15 - which technically is late but, well, not really, I had to catch the bus into the city cos it was too late to walk down to that city client, which is what I normally do.

And everything probably would've been fine, cept they had this Easter/Birthday morning tea, so that lasted like half an hour or something. And then there was this fill-in finance guy who wanted this meeting... Anyway, so I only just got back to the office by 1.

And then, since I woke up too late and didn't have time to make lunch, I had to go and buy it at the local shop. But I still thought there'd be plenty of time....and there was, really. I finally settled on a pair, and have to prepare myself to pay like $300 for them. Oh, well. Square, with black frames. Not too thick. Like what I was thinking before I even looked, really. Just took a while to adapt to the dramatic changes.

Then it was back for the long afternoon, made to feel even longer by the rain which crept in at about 3 or so. Then they knocked of 5 minutes early (just as I predicted) to have drinks. So I had a Coke and Doritos. Then left.

And after some brief extra packing, and trying to get some scooter thing to stand up properly (???), it was time for the lovely, lovely, lovely drive down south. Did I mention that it was lovely?
Actually, it wasn't too slow, cept for the start bit of the freeway. Did pass for separate police people thingy what had people pulled over - and that was only between like South street and Thomas.
Then, for some unknown reason, they had blocked the highway just outside of Bunbury, so we had to take this stupid detour around it, which was one lane, and thus quite slow. Aarrgh!

Still, I got there about 9, so it really took only just over 3 hours.

And there was football on. Hooray. And the team I tipped lost greatly. Super.

"But when you reach over and put your hand into a pile of goo, that, a moment before, was your best friend's face; you'll know what to do!" - Patton

A Simpsons quote, courtesy of Patton - "forget it, Marge, its Chinatown!".

Got up with plenty of time, but didn't make lunch, cos Mogli said yesterday that the plan was to take the computer into the people at lunchtime, and we'd find something over there.

But then, he brought his lunch anyway. And it didn't matter, cos it turned out that the computer shop wasn't even open, or something, cos I rang a lot of times and there was no answer.

And then Mogli wanted to go to the city to buy something, which I won't say cos he'd be embarrassed - probably - so we put off the glasses thing till tomorrow, anyway. And then there was a Gloria Jeans right next door to his shop - I never knew about that one. So I got a VVL. Then had Red Rooster for lunch, with that two meals for $10 thing. Super!
And we weren't late getting back. So, great....

Not much happening in the afternoon, though I did have some work to do. Also discovered season 3 of Deadwood is being released about the same time as season 8 of Seinfeld (in like June....), so I have both of them ready to order. Probably. And Bobby as well. Maybe. Only that's released like next week. But I'll probably hold off for a while, if at all. The problem with the June thing is what my address will be....

Finished watching Patton, with like half an hour to spare before I was going to the movies, and that was going to take all of tonight, so that was really the last time I had before leaving, except if I stayed back later on Thursday night. Cutting it a bit close, maybe. Oh, well.
And it wasn't much of a film, really. MAYBE it was realistic, but, even so, apart from things like his speech at the start, and the occasional other moment, it was quite boring. They seemed to focus on the wrong parts, in my opinion. Nyeh. Another top 100 let down - though this was like number 70+. But Pulp Fiction and Goodfellas are both in the 90s. Ai.

Went to Carousel to watch Reign Over Me with V. I'd like to say the best part about the film was all the projection problems at the start - maybe it was the funniest part. But then, it wasn't really a comedy now, was it. I don't think I really got past Adam Sandler as like, Happy Gilmore, or Mr Deeds, or whatever. But there was no reason to doubt his performance, really. And Don Cheadle was brilliant, as always. And the story was ultimately fairly depressing, and it didn't really wrap up, well, anything. But it was fun. Yay.
I inadvertently tried convincing V to watch the midnight screening of 300 - and almost managed to get him to do it. But he chickened out.
So I had to go back to his place to get his ipod charger thing, cos I can't charge mine cos my computer is stupid. And that's that.

Got back at midnight. Looked at my microwave by accident and it said 00:00, so I thought it was broken. Hah.

"And time goes by so slowly...." - Unchained Melody, The Righteous Brothers

I think I've used that quote before.... Well, as Nirvana didn't say; nevermind.
That's just how work is, y'know. And its not just me - at least Mogli, too.

Had, again, like no work for the entire day. It probably doesn't help, y'know?

Had to get a coffee. Ai.

Went down to Subi with Mogli after eating lunch, cos he wanted to go to the bank in West Perth, but I wanted to get my glasses fixed, cos the nose plug plastic bit broke. So lucky there was an ANZ like across the street. And I got to deposit my Wesfarmers dividend cheque as a bonus.
Then I was looking for a new pair of glasses. Tried on about 12 pairs or something, but couldn't quite make up my mind, so we had to put a few aside and come back tomorrow.

Left at 5. Cos of Good Friday - so I'm not gonna work the extra half day, since I won't be paid for it.

Was gonna start to watch Patton - my final rented DVD, of 2.5 hours long - but then I was turning on my computer and it is up to its old tricks again, so I'm gonna have to take it back in. So I tried ringing the place, but it was late already so there was no answer. Mogli says I should just demand a whole new system now - but that's gonna take a while, especially over Easter. Ai.

Then I had to go for MLE at 7:30. Once again, I wondered why I should be there. Still, I got to see V, and pay him for dinner from like two weeks ago. Also wanted to borrow his ipod AC charger, since I can't charge it with my computer now, can I?

Got back about 10 and started watching Patton. The speech at the start was good....

Incompetence - When you earnestly believe you can compensate for a lack of skill by doubling your efforts, there's no limit to what you can't do.

April's entry from the Despair Inc. Demotivational Calendar.

Got up about 9 - maybe a bit before.

Watched my final episode of Heroes - 14. It was OK....

Was just about to start watching Good Night, and Good Luck, then this guy from next door comes over and says hes got computer problems. So I went over there for like an hour and couldn't really do nothing about it. Too bad, eh?

So then I could only watch like an hour of the show. And it was pretty good and stuff, but doesn't really mean much to me, I suppose, cos I don't really know about the craziness of those cold war anti-communist people thingy at that time.

Then it was time for work! Yay!
Well, at least there was a new person, as a bit of variety. Yeah, that thrill lasted all of half an hour.

Didn't have much to do. Great.

I realised the short time I had to watch the DVDs that I rented, so hurriedly watched the end of Good Night, and Good Luck, after the Simpsons. Lucky its only like a 90 minute show. Then I started watching Seven Years in Tibet, which goes for about two hours, and continued watching it after watching most of 1 vs 100, where the crazy Christian guy won $98,000, mostly by fluke, so that was good. Still, it didn't finish until 11pm.

Pretzel Wagon Guy: "Wherever a mother is ignorant of what to feed her children, you'll be there"

Another case of Simpsons adapting quotes from movies. That one from the Grapes of Wrath - or else its like some huge coincidence.

Got up at 9, and left at 9:30, even though I knew it would be too early, and it was. Sat around for like half an hour or something. Tried to play games on my mobile, but they were too hard. Especially stupid pool. And stupid golf.

Had Jesters for lunch, but there was hardly any selection - had to have a Stockmans and Taj Mahal. Nyeh.

Finished watching The Grapes of Wrath. It started getting old pretty quick. And it irritated me that all the police were like mindless evil people - it didn't seem very realistic to me. I think it would've been better if they had emphasised that things were just bad, and there was nothing that anybody could do. Oh, well.

Then I watched Mulholland Drive, which was one of those really insane movies - like 2001, which is more like you watch it for the experience of watching it, and it just enjoys screwing with your head. That, and the lesbian bits....

And then it was time for Rove's triumphant reentry, which was, for the most part, a success, according to me.

After that I watched some more Heroes.
