Sea Captain: "Arrr....Someone should get keelhauled for that one!"

Woke up about 6:35, so too late to pray again.

Confirmed what Mogli had told me yesterday about their being no Maxim spots, and only KDC ones, so I parked in my old bay - for what will be the last time!

Mogli rang me just after 8, cos I had to show him X's old spot so he could park there. Then, and I forgot to apologise, cos I think it was cos he was talking to me - he locked his keys in. It was just some old car with no central locking, you understand?
Anyway, lucky hes a RAC ultimate (or whatever) member, but he had to wait there from before 8:30 till after 9. And it was outside in the quite freezing cold, and he wasn't wearing a jumper (unlike yesterday).

Got an email from War who was asking some more CGT advice, though I don't remember what I told him last time, so gave him some pretty vague suggestions.....yeah.

Spent the morning talking about kebabs, cos of this place (in Broadway Fair) that both Mogli and WorkC reckon is like so brilliantly great.

So WorkC was late - as I predicted! Me and Mogli went first with WorkB, who, rather predictably, I think, drove like a crazy-type person. WorkP(who doesn't have a unique name - hah!)&MF went too.
I had some lamb one, which was OK for the most part, but the lamb was cooked in some middle eastern sauce thing, which didn't really go well with the egg and cheese and that. So I thought maybe the chicken one would be better - but it is a very big lunch, and pretty expensive too.

Had a nice meeting straight after that - nice in that it was mainly about more fun type stuff, and nice cos it gave me an hour to let the food settle and get some after lunch sleep out of the way.
Mogli, being the extremely hesitant person that he thinks hes not (at least in terms of confrontations) finally suggested a free dress Friday. Unfortunately, he was kinda talked down into maybe doing the stuff when its like for a charity, and that.
Then they mentioned that they're looking for a two-year experienced tax person, and an auditor with similar experience, though maybe a little more. I think they'll be struggling, personally.
Also discussed some end of (financial) year thing, where we have some charity day on Thursday where we help a non-profit with some backyard renovations, then, since we'll be tired on Friday, we work only a half day (um....which I do anyway) then go for lunch or bowling or something.

I, kinda accidentally, told Mogli in the afternoon about this blog, so he suggested my new title - Joe Blogs. I thought it was really funny - but I think I was also a little jealous, cos its really something I shoulda thought of. Especially when I used to call myself Joe King.
"My names Joe King, just joking", etc.

Watched another Seinfeld episode, after The Simpsons, after a little shopping.
Then, during dinner, which I timed almost perfectly to be ready by the time it started, watched my favourite show - though I've missed it the past week, or two. And, despite that I really want to see Shawn Micallef, it was probably the best one I've seen. I thought the guy who did the cricket probably deserved to win, cos he was so quick and it seemed so natural, but I thought the English guy was the funniest - especially with his continous lines about Giles the dog.

Ahhh.....life. Oh life. Do do do do do.

Mr Burns: "Just us and our hemp smoking friend here. Shine on you crazy diamond!"

Recycling Guy: "Sounds like someones living in the past. Contemporise....man!"

Got out of bed about 6:15, so managed to pray about 10 minutes - probably less, actually.

Was making Mogli all freaked cos I was ranting a bit cos I've got all this stuff due - plus there was this thing which isn't lodged and it was due yesterday and I submitted it to the people on Thursday and the client was like being all....um....butt-like.
Then it got worse cos I was really starving and my blood-sugar was like seriously low and my brain was not functioning properly.
Plus I was doing this client with a confusing GL, cos it was like two entities in one file.....which was split into two files (cos it changed during the year, or something). Anyway.....I was talking to myself with a mock-Russian accent. 'Vat iz go-ink on', etc.

Afternoon seemed to go pretty quick, at least.

Well, till about 4:45 at least, when I kinda gave up.
Printed out a TV schedule for Ze Verld Cup instead.....pity is like the most crappy timezone u can get......though, then again, if it was during the day I couldn't watch it either. Looking forward to getting no sleep for a month......

Did some washing, which was mainly for my jeans, even though I bought that new pair anyway. But it was a full load, anyway, cos I had a towel and a jumper and that. Plus, theres a nice long break in the weather - who knows what may happen by next weekend? And there always seems to be a backlog by Friday afternoon.

Watched a few more episodes of Seinfeld. Up to the last 5 or so from season 6. No sign on when season 7 will come.....AAAAAHHH! I want more J Peterman, and Soup Nazi, and George's fiance......

Got a call from Mogli....can I get away from this guy? He was trying to scam my parking space. Thats all it was, but it was about a 10 minute conversation.....yeah.

Now its like suddenly 10. Don't know what I've done for the last like 2 hours.....

Lisa: "He [Dr Nick Riviera] must be as good as Dr Hibbert.....It says so right in his ad...."

Woke up about 10.

Had my shower and posted letters, then it was about 10:50, so I left. Had to get petrol first - yay!

Went to church, then went more or less straight away to the bank. Didn't take nearly as long as I thought it would.

Had lunch, for the second day in a row, at the upstairs of the Southlands shopping centre. However, went to the shop next door to the Japanese one - I had beef kway teow. Was very nice, and quite big. Plus, Jean paid for me, so that was nice.

I went to Garbo after that. Was planning to buy some denim stuff, but I was again presented with the problem of not being able to tell even if they are guys ones....
I found some more chinos, and they were all hanging up so that was easy to see. I bought some dark coloured ones (for a change). Then I realised that a way to tell guys denims is the size - if it was easily visible. For future reference, I guess.....It still wouldn't solve my problem of knowing colour or fit or if they have that horrible vintage/stone wash stuff, but.....
I bought a belt as well, but, for some reason, they don't have correlation to size in inches, but are size like 2, 3, 4 etc. So I asked the lady and she says like a 3 or a 4. So I got a 3 - yeah, that was too small. Will have to change it like next week, or whatever.

As is my want/habit/vice, got a VVL from Gloria Jean's. And the next one is free! As the lady said, its anything regular sized so, she advised 'get something expensive'. I probably won't though. How can I say no to the VVL? King among coffees......

So I got home and I was feeling too.....sleepy, I guess, after that lunch. Besides, I had my ironing to do, so I did all my shirts while watching The Godfather Part III. Then I took a break and did some accounting stuff till 5:30. At which time I completed my ironing till 5:45, when I prepared some dinner stuff till 6.

Finished watching The Godfather 3 during dinner and a little after. The second to last scene really is a great climax, and it almost makes me cry, despite the fact that, as I've probably said, Sofia Coppola isn't much of an actress, and makes the character quite fake.

Incidentally.....thats another failed curry recipe mix. I really am despairing, here. Admittedly, this wasn't even purporting to be a curry, but it was supposed to be some Thai thingy, and, its like, I DON'T THINK SO.

Going back to work tommorrow.....with no WorkM2 (who, as a result, shall now be known as X). Was browsing Amazon tonight and saw a collection of Babylon 5 movies.....but I'm sure I'll have to wait at least until he gets back from Canada - and who knows when that will be?

Mr Burns: "What? Oh, very well...[sings] lets all go to the lobby, lets all go to the lobby, lets all go to the lobby to get ourselves some treats!"

Saw my first ever Radiohead MTV clip today - to my favourite song (Karma Police), what I had already read as described by - that Simpsons book; some guy running along the road in front of a car, and he finally falls over so the car reverses but it leaves an oil trail which is lit by matches from the guy and catches on fire. Yep. As V said, it probably means nothing.

Was counting way too much money....have to go to church tommorrow as security for the secretary when she deposits it....."scary" all the people will say.

We were gonna go for lunch at the "over the road" place, but there were all these cars acting like they own the place, so we ended up going to Southlands instead. V said it must be good, since no-one goes there.
Probably against my better judgement, I had the terriyaki beef instead of the chicken cats. Yeah - was a bit overflavoured, or something.

Got back home at 2:30. Didn't do much....watched an episode of Seinfeld.

Left for the ZPH X-Men III screening at about 3:30, since Pseudo-Unreal said we should be there at 4. I think the idea was so we could wait in line for 25 minutes or so, which we did.

It was quite a good show, but I think they went a bit overboard in the number of mutants and their powers - it makes you wonder why Magneto and Pyro and especially Rogue are so special. Especially with the whole Jean Gray/Phoenix thing - that was just crazy.
But they stayed true to the feel, and the story was still full of enough substance. I especially liked my old friend Kelsey Grammar (aka Frasier, Sideshow Bob) as the blue fuzzy guy. But, considering the amount of people dying or losing their powers, I wonder how the ending could be left so open that there pretty much HAS to be a number 4 (even though this one is called 'The Last Stand'). Note the scene right at the end, after the credits.....

Had KFC for dinner - back to the sweet chilli twister. Still a little too much, though, maybe.

Watched a few more episodes of Seinfeld. Was feeling really pretty tired even though it was only 9, and now I want to sleep even though its only 10:15, and I don't have to work tommorrow. Go figure....

"Its amazing - so simple, yet so devious" - Jerry Seinfeld

George: "This is what I do"

Woke up just before 11, as predicted but not really expected.

Played some CivII, then had a shower.

Watched a bit more of The Godfather Part II, then went shopping. Bought some other thing to try and get some sort of curry thing. Though, I'm not sure if this is even pretending to be a curry.

Watched a bit more of The Godfather II after that. Incidentally, I only recognised Dominic Chianese (Corrato "Junior" Soprano) because I knew he was Johnny Olla. After I knew, I couldn't picture the face, but the voice was frighteningly the same - since this is like 30 years ago, or whatever. Unfortunately, he really only has one significant scene; right at the start.

Did about 45 minutes of account stuff. Now properly up to date........I guess.

Watched the rest of Godfather II. I still really don't understand, and I guess I never will, while people think its so good.

Saw part of Look Whos Talking Too, cos it was on TV. It looked really stupid, so I didn't watch any more of it.

Watched another two episodes of Seinfeld instead, including The Race, which is a great episode.

So thats another Saturday. Oh well - easy come, easy go.

Friday, May 26, 2006

Sideshow Bob: "Well, you know I tried to....kill....some people"

Cecil: "Oh, really? For you see, I have been on Mars for the last two years, with my eyes shut and my fingers in my ears"
Sideshow Bob: "Touche, Cecil."

I love that episode....those Crane brothers are so funny.

Did a little praying.....technically 10 minutes, though not that long.

And yes, WorkM2 was leaving today. I say 'was leaving' cos, of cos, I left at 12:30....I can only assume that nothing happened in the interim.
He brought his own cake, but didn't need to cos the firm provided one as well. And they were both chocolate mudcakes, though one was from Cheescake Shop and the other from Miss Maudes. There were also a few sausage rolls.
Then the partners gave him a gift, which is pretty standard - a maglite and pocket knife (both mini). Then there was the presents and card from 'the rest of us' (though I only signed it today, and Mogli didn't get a chance at all - though I put in some money for him) - it was two books; a travel guide to Canada and a history of the Grand Prix - mainly cos after this, hes going to Canada (for a wedding) and is watching the Grand Prix there.

So I tried to wait for an opportune moment (mainly when there wasn't anyone else around) to give him the book. I think he thought I was only lending it to him, and it took a while for me to get across that it was, like, a permanent thing.
I gave him a card with my personal details on the back, cos he promised to lend me Ultima 9, as well as the X-Files and Babylon 5.

Raced too fast to lunch again, and had to wait about 10 minutes. Back to the usual of just me and V - but he had to complete an assignment, so we took about a quarter of the usual time. I had the usual again - and it worked pretty well. He assured me that despite the fact that he was pressed to complete his essay by 5, there was no dramas in buying the stuff as well - though I wasn't completely assured. Yeah....

Played some CivII, then did an hour and a half of account stuff, then watched The Simpsons, then did another half an hour of account stuff, such that I was as much up to date as possible. I also did one load of washing, and started the next just as I was leaving - late - to go to FNL.

So after that, I ended up talking to the future secretary about arrangements for post June, so missed out on any chance of getting snacky food. And V had missed out to, so we decided, along with LH and her friend, and V's younger sister and her friend and her brother (....) to go to the, for all intents and purposes, 24-hour MacDonalds down Leach highway in Melville. We ended up getting there about 11:45, I guess. I had the nuggets meal - 10 of them. Yummy! V confused everyone by just getting chips, though he ended up relenting to get a cheeseburger - though I don't think it happened. By like 12:15 or so I was really feeling really tired, so I left - though that made them leave too.

Played some CivII. Slept just before 2. No QT.

Thursday, May 25, 2006

Homer: "Whenever Poochie's not on screen, everyone should be asking... 'where's Poochie?"

Got a cappuccino from the coffee guy in the morning, cos it was so freezing that my face was numb, and I had to walk up (and down) Kings Park road to visit a client for all of 30 minutes, or something.

Was looking at the clock in the middle of the roundabout thing outside the entrance to Kings Park, and the shadow it was casting on the circle, and decided that they should've made it so its like a giant sundial. That would be cool.

Not much else happened during the day. Had an about half hour SMS session with Mogli about if WorkM2 is actually leaving tommorrow or later, and, if so, is it work policy that they provide something. He thought it was, but I resolved to buy something anyway. Just in case.

Was gonna check with him if he was leaving at the end of the day, but then he was in with WorkB, so that didn't work.

Watched most of the match between Australia and Greece. I think the only bit I missed was where they scored the only goal at the start. Yeah...
Anyway, it doesn't make me any more respectful of Australia's chances. I think 'chances' is a good word for it, actually.

Went to Angus and Robertson in Subi to buy a book for WorkM2. Was gonna ring my mum and ask her advice about which classics she would recommend, but then she was out at some meeting or whatever.

I settled on 'The Strange Case of Dr Jeckyl and Mr Hyde' by Robert Louis Stevenson (!) - I thought Treasure Island was like his only thing.... Anyway, the others on my prospective list - 'The Picture of Dorian Gray' by Oscar Wilde (which I thought may be too....unadventurelike) and 'Dracula' by Bram Stoker (which I thought may be too.....freakylike) weren't easily visable among the classics. I was tempted to go for something completely out of left field - like Homer's 'Odyssey' or 'War and Peace' by Tolstoy, but I know that he hasn't read Jeckyl and Hyde, and I know that he's interested in it. My main problem is that the entire book is only about 160 pages, and there are 3 stories - Jeckyl and Hyde is only about 70 pages, max.
Oh, well.

Had KFC for dinner. WorkB had been raving about the Honey Soy twister, so I had that instead. It was.......different. Thats all I'll say.

Watched the end of The Godfather from yesterday. Its such a brilliant film - pity number 2 is so bad. I was thinking, though, that I probably wouldn't have such a high opinion of number 3 if it was next to number 1, but because number 2 is in the middle, and its so not good compared to number 1, number 3 appears a lot better. Maybe.

This Stadium Arcadium is such a nice albumn.....

"Kicking Bird thanks Dances With Wolves for coming" - Stands With A Fist, Dances with Wolves

Actually got out of bed at 6, so managed to get time to pray for about 5 minutes. Super.

Mogli was late today. I was shocked.

Was out at a client's office in the city till just before 2. Was forced to go to their morning tea, and ate half of a big chocolate chocolate chip muffin - you can't go wrong with those. Then drank some coffee while talking about churches, cos apparently my contact at the firm's parents are both ministers who just started up some church in Myaree, or something, and they're always trying to get him to do stuff.

+Y bought everybody small cakes for some reason - my guess is she was trying to buy friends. Anyway, it worked for me. Was apparently some sort of cheescake, though it was more like mousse with a biscuit base. The top half was kaluha, I think, the bottom half was coffee flavoured. Sweet.
Mogli was going on for about half an hour that I had to pay for it, then just goes 'nah, I'm only joking'. I'm sure I've mentioned his psychotic tendencies before.

Had to buy his chocolate in the afternoon. And he took a picnic as well....

Then he was going on about some women's clothing, cos he wanted some sort of Bond's top with a slim fit, and I'm like 'if you buy women's clothing, you're even more weird than outward appearances would suggest' and he was like 'I haven't bought it yet, I only want to buy it' and I'm like 'well....thats not a whole lot better'.

Had a client appointment at 2:30, although I completely forgot about it. It went pretty OK, though. More than pretty OK, actually.

Didn't get any work done for like the last hour, cos Mogli was having to do his first coding job for AO, though it was only prep cos everything had to be input to excel first, and it was like, walk over there, then walk back and sit down for 2 minutes then have to walk over there again, etc.

My wallet had again leaked coins into my briefcase when I got home, so, on Mogli's advice mainly, I have officially given up on this wallet carrying coins. I've decided to trial run without any sort of carrying thing, and if it works I'm gonna just buy one of those magic wallet things what Mogli showed me before, cos its so cool. But, if not, I'll just have to find a new wallet with coin carrying capacity. Or hopefully but that time coins will be redundant already.
We'll all just have our liquidity values marked on our heads, or something.....

Went for cell, to a whole new house. Had other people show up. Gave V back his CD.
Argued a lot about having to provide food for Friday. In the end, I think the only reason that V agreed to be solely responsible for buying the stuff is cos hes trying to satisfy his masochistic urges, but I'll try and verify that later. Of course, it doesn't really bother me, cos it helps me satisfy my sadistic ones.

Lisa: "Mr Smithers, I found another hurt shrew."

Got out of bed at 6:45. Not quite sure how that happened, cos I don't remember sleeping after turning off my alarm at 6.

No milk, and no other food, so no breakfast, and had to buy lunch.

Unfortunately, just missed the thunderstorm by 10 minutes or so. Not happy with this weather.

Was starving due to the no breakfast thing - partly satisfied myself by eating biscuits. Mogli kept going on about how hungry he was, then made me look at this website for some steakhouse in Freo where hes going for dinner, which made me feel so much better......

Was all ready to order a cappuccino from the coffee guy, then he didn't show. So....making my decision for me. Which is OK.

Afternoon went pretty really slowly, though I didn't manage to lay off some of my horribly boring but needing to be done work onto someone else, so that was good.

Went shopping to buy the essentials, like milk and pancakes (I blame some office person for talking about that - I think it was a conversation between Mogli and WorkC).

After The Simpsons, and playing a bit of CivII while listening to Stadium Arcadium , which was cut short cos there was a power surge which made my computer go off, then it wouldn't turn back on cos it was saying the CPU was too hot, I watched most of The Godfather. Such a beautiful film - one like you can say 'they don't make them like that anymore'. Plus, theres still all that lovely violence, too!

But its getting too late. Now I have to do washing (of dishes) but I'm tired and want to sleep. Bah!

Monday, May 22, 2006

Marge: "Homer, did you tell the mafia they could run my pretzel business through instilling fear by assault and murder of my competitiors?"

Homer: "In those words?...........Yes."

Kinda got woken up by the washing machine people ringing me to tell me it'd be here between 11 and 2, but was kinda awake already. Got out of bed by about 9:30; maybe a bit later.

Wrote about 700 words on my assignment when my dad showed up at 12:15 for lunch. Went to Tiamo's - was half expecting a call from the washing machine people like right in the middle there somewhere.

Got back at 1:45 and there was a truck just pulling up at the other end of the street. Turned out to be the guy, so....
Got him to unwrap it and take out the travelling bolts (reminded me of Star Wars episode 4 where R2-D2 goes wandering off....anyway). So on the advice of the instructions, ran a wash using powder but no clothes and heat. Unfortunately, I neglected to realise how foamy a front loader does indeed get, cos I came down about half an hour later and foam was flowing out everywhere. At least the water got nice and hot - was worried that the temperature thing wasn't working for a moment there.
So it seemed to work pretty OK in the end. Unfortunately, I don't really have any washing left to do now....

So I finished writing my assignment by about 4:30, but that didn't include references, which I didn't finish till about 6:45, though I watched The Simpsons in the middle there. So then I had to drive out to the place, and there was a car proof gate across the road. Lucky there was no fence like next door, otherwise I may have had to do something semi-legal. Luckily, I just parked in the driveway and went and slid the paper under the doorway. Good enough for me....
heh.

Watched 2 and a bit episodes of Seinfeld to relieve my stress. Worked pretty well too, I have to say.

Listened to Stadium Arcadium a bit during my assignment writing in the morning. Its a very nice albumn......as in, it sounds nice. Easy to listen to, rolls off the ears, if there is such a thing. But not easy listening like Jack Johnson (shudder) but like.......Moby, but more refined. I donno......
I just don't see where all these people are getting 'this albumn rocks' cos it doesn't.....in that sense.
Nyeh.

Anyway, another week now. And I've had no time to go shopping, so I guess its buying lunch again. And you know what that means.....
well, maybe you don't. But I do. Yep.

Sunday, May 21, 2006

Rev. Lovejoy: "For ever and ever and ever....[turns page]....and ever and ever....."

Went to Nandos for lunch. Got the half chicken combo, cos the quarter was too small last time. It was just a little too big.
Got Stadium Arcadium from V.

Prepared the cheques to be posted when I got back - took me an hour or so. There were 12.

Played a little CivII.

Read two more articles before The Simpsons, leaving only 1, which I read after dinner. Watched the first episode of Lano and Woodley.

Did my ironing while watching Dances with Wolves. This is like an extended version, though, so I was only about 3/4 way through when I had finished all the ironing (plus drinking my tea and eating biscuits) so I thought maybe I could get some assignment writing done tonight.
Thats still possible - but unlikely. Am fairly tired.

Yeah...thats it, I guess.

"The first rule of Fight Club is - you do not talk about Fight Club. The second rule of Fight Club is - you do NOT TALK about Fight Club"-Tyler Durten

Got woken up by a call from the washing machine delivery guy, saying he'd be there between 12 and 3........great.

Actually got up at about 10.

Didn't do much - did some accounts, read about 5 articles for my assignment, played some CivII, sorted some more songs on my ipod.

After watching about half of Fight Club while having lunch, I decided that 'between 12 and 3' means 2:59. I then got a call at about 2:40 saying that he'd be there 'between half an hour and an hour later'. Should I be surprised?

He actually turned up at 3:15. He took the old machine, dropped off the new one in its packaging and left. So, we took the packaging off and went to move it into position, when it was discovered that the top had become unattached from the back in a broken kind of way. So I rang the place and they can't send a new one till Monday, and I can't use it, so had to do my washing at LH's place again.

Watched the rest of Fight Club while eating dinner. Then read some articles. Then watched A Civil Action - mainly for Robert Duvall, who is so great in that film, even though hes a lawyer for the bad guys. What can you do?

So now I'm gonna goto bread, and I have to do QT for two days, cos last night I kinda just went straight to sleep. Yeah....

And to finish, the warning from the start of the Fight Club DVD. Which I almost didn't read until it was too late, so I had to restart it again to read it proper. Yeah....
And if you think thats weird, try watching the film.

Leonard Nemoy: "This story is true, and by that, I mean, false. But it makes us laugh, and isn't that the real truth? The answer; is no."

Is there any point saying?

Had another birthday today - thats the third this week (Gee, I must be getting old; heh heh). Actually, the persons real birthday (one of the partners) was like a few weeks ago. Had lemon tart and apple pie. Yay - food.

Interestingly, the 60c chocolates went up yesterday to 70c. So, I'm planning to use that to weasel out of my bet with WorkM. Just do some good old fashioned weaselling.

LH turned up for cell lunch - thats three! Although she was a little later.
I had nachos for a change. Probably not the greatest idea. But they weren't all bad - and it was cheaper, yet more filling. Too much, actually. But I wasn't really in flavour country.

Finished at three, and I went left to go buy my washing machine straight after. Had to get petrol first. However, I was surprised that the regular $30 gave me almost a full tank from what must've been an extremely empty one, even though its like $1.45 a litre.
Driving down Stirling Highway was painfully slow, and I almost ran over the crazy college people crossing the road near that overbridge there.
The machine I wanted was still there. Had a little tutorial from the lady - apparently, theres no such thing as hot and cold taps now - the machines heat the water themselves to a specifc temperature. And she advised doing it around 50 degrees, since it helps the detergent react better and get rid of human oils.....
Anyway, its being delivered tommorow at about midday. And they're taking the old one for an extra $10.

Played some CivII while listening to some music, which didn't really work that well.

After The Simpsons, watched the end of Fiddler on the Roof, then watched The Princess Bride. Both fairly light-hearted entertainment - I think I should've gone with my original idea and watched Fight Club - I needed something a little more.....stimulating.

In the middle somewhere did an hour and a half of treasury stuff - I did all the salary things except writing out the cheques. But I'm sure I'll get to that tommorrow, cos reading about Augustine and Pelagius isn't gonna be something I'll be able to do straight through the whole day.

And I think its been too long without a picture, so here is the a photo of the greatest poster ever. And I say that cos, really, I haven't had much exposure to photos. And it really is what it represents, not the poster itself.
Anyway.....

Memory of Coyote: "Find your soulmate, Homer. Find your soulmate"

Homer: "But how?"
Memory of Coyote: "I'm just your memory. I can't give you any new information"

Ditto as yesterday. I mean, what do you expect when I don't get to sleep till 12? Bah!

I really don't feel like posting. Not neccessarily cos nothing happened (how would that be different from any other day?), but I've been feeling really, really bad. Can't explain what it is - some sort of severe disorientation. I often stand up after sitting down, or being in a lift, and the world feels like its moving, or something. And moving my head makes it feel like my brain is some ship being tossed on a stormy sea. And my stomach will not stop churning slightly as with butterflys. And I always feel really hungry, but not like eating anything. Anyway..... I put most of it down to tiredness. Such as I feel now.

So I put a little of my plan into action what I decided in cell last night, in that I thought I should go back and do my blog (from yesterday), but I just hung around with WorkM2 in the lunchroom. I was telling him about The League of Extraordinary Gentleman, cos I knew he'd be interested in the characters at least. Then we were both lamenting our heavy study workloads to each other. Yeah....

But for the first half hour of lunch, I had to drive down to Subi and pick up a 6 month supply of disposable contact lenses. There goes another $200....

Watched Thank God You're Here what I taped from last night. It was pretty good - but the volume was super low, and for a while there was no sound at all. I think someone might have been using the DVD, or something. The best bit seemed to be the bit as a tour guide on the bus around Melbourne, but all I had was subtitles - though it was lucky I had them - don't know how they got there.
"Thats the Sydney Myer Music Bowl, named after Professor Bowl. Who lived in Sydner....and worked at Myer."

And then I watched about half of Fiddler on the Roof - such a lovely simple down-to-earth type story (mainly the characters) with gentle humour. And the songs are pretty darn good to.

And now - to bed. And tommorrow, I really must buy a washing machine. I'm hoping I can like 'order' one in the morning, so it can be delivered that afternoon.....or something.

Just in reference to the quote above - I have new respect for that episode after learning the coyote is Johnny Cash. Though I'm surprised that, even though it must be one of the last 'jobs' he had before he died, his voice doesn't really sound old. Or, much like he is when he sings, which I mainly know from 'The Wanderer' of Zooropa, a U2 albumn. Go figure......

Ned Flanders: "You ugly hate-filled man"

Moe: "Hey, I may be ugly and hate-filled, but.....what was the third thing you said?"

No praying again.

WorkM 'suggested' (in a rather forceful way) that I should open my blinds, so I did. And it really was a very nice view - nicely aesthetic, or whatever.

I saw an article in the afternoon that a Stradivarius had sold for $4.6 million at auction - the highest ever. I mentioned this to WorkM, and he was like Homer during that time when he was looking through a box of items worth 15c - 'Stradawhovious?' And I was commenting that, since he didn't know what a Stradivarius was - and, indeed, had never even heard the term before, that he was some uncultured idiot. So we bet a 60c chocolate that we'd ask someone else in the office and they wouldn't know. Needless to say, he won.

Then neither of us said anything for like 10 minutes, and hes like 'why have you gone quiet' and I'm like 'some people have to work' and hes like 'sore loser' and I'm like 'sore winner' and so on for the next few hours.

My DVDs arrived, and WorkM was just going through them and came across 'The Princess Bride' and was like going on about how girly it was. And so I was asking if he'd seen it and had any idea what it was about, and of course he didn't. However, I was forced to call him a teeny girl, cos he likes OC. He happily admitted he was immature, after getting his age wrong by 3 years, cos he laughs at.....words I shouldn't mention here.

WorkC (who knows War and reminds me of his sister) decided yesterday, cos we were discussing The Jungle Book cos someone else's boyfriend was naming his cat after one of the characters - Bageera, or whatever - that we should call WorkM Mogli, cos hes the young boy of the office. So its not just me.....

Thats enough of that. But just know that I could go on. But theres probably not many more people apart from the two of us that would find it interesting. As V says, I'm like Edward Norton from Fight Club. Although, I don't know exactly what he means by that.

Had to go shopping to buy food for cell. So I took the opportunity to buy butter and cheese as well. Aren't I lucky?

Once again had to hurriedly eat dinner. And though I didn't really have that much, still felt too full.

Finished cell insanely early.......like 10, or something. But people had to talk and that afterwards, so....

Went straight to be when I got home - after 11:30. Aaaaaaarrrrgh!

"Then I looked up at the sky and I could see the way that gravity pulls on you and me" - Coldplay, Gravity

Got a phone call at 5. Thats AM. Some private number, or something.

No time to pray again.

Couldn't make my lunch, cos I had no butter. Yep.

Finished my book at 8 in the morning - hooray! Ended...satisfactorially, but a little too fantastic for me. As in, too much fantasy.
Have decided to read a Tolkein book (The Tolkein Reader - another compendium of short works) before I move on to the serious Christian stuff again. Well, relatively....

WorkM got me a thumb drive over the weekend. Ah...
Hes actually jealous, cos mine looks more cool than his - and it was like half the price. Hah!

I was relating, again, my obsession with Picnics and (just wondering aloud) wanting to buy them in bulk. So he says he can get me a box from FAL. So....thats good, then.

Got a cappucino from the coffee guy. It was OK - but I only managed to drink about half of it before it got too cold.

Got THE hot roast beef roll for lunch, and a giant sandwich, for $7.50! The taste was worth it, but I was starving and it didn't fill me.

Went for training from 4 till 6. Fun, as usual. Too much budget stuff, considering I like knew nearly all about it anyway.
And it made me miss The Simpsons, of course. Plus it was pitch black when I was walking back (like half the length of Kings Park road). In the carpark, all the lights were off, so I had to press my unlocking button to make my car lights flash on and off so I could see where I was going.

Watched one episode of Sienfeld, and the bloopers and the animation of the big race - so funny!
Also saw episode 18 of Ghost in the Shell - one I hadn't seen before, which was nice.

Was trying to listen to Stadium Arcadium just now, but the connection kept wanting to 'rebuffer' - but the songs didn't really sound that good. But V says he's gonna buy it without even listening to it (!!) - which is particularly strange, since the only other albumn he has is the greatest hits, and he wasn't a fan of the main songs from the last albumn. Anyway - I guess I'll try getting it off him later.

Bedtime. Again.

Millhouse: "Remember when your dog ate my goldfish, and you told me I never had any goldfish? So why'd I have the bowl, Bart? Why'd I have the bowl!"

Woke up about 9. Wasted a bit of time messing around with my music files - but it was neccessary for the 'process'.

Finished about 2:30. I was pretty happy with it, but it was about 80 words short.

Drove out to the college thingy. Tried to find out about the whole 'wrong topic assigned for next week' thing. Got something sorted. Maybe.

Drove home and then went straight to the shopping place. Bought some stuff.

Since I hadn't eaten all day, I ended eating both part of my chicken and my KING SIZE (aaaaaaaaahhhhhhh......) Picnic while drinking some....tea.... (small pleasures - how I miss them).

Watched a few (yes, a few) episodes of Seinfeld. Then played a bit of CivII, then watched The Simpsons. Then played some more CivII before making dinner.

I tried some new sauce - I'm trying to get a good curry - but it was like almost completely unlike curry. Why can't I get my coconut one back? Darn that brand stopping production.....

Watched more Sienfeld during dinner, but then I got to the end of disc 1 of season 6, so I watched an episode of Ghost in the Shell - up to episode 18 now.

Thats it.

Millhouse: "Everything's coming up Millhouse!"

Woke up about 7, and realised that I hadn't set my alarm. So turned it on for 9, and went back to sleep.

Surprisingly, woke up at 9.

Went for lunch with V and Shin at the 'new' Taurus. Not as good as the 'old' Taurus, but considerably faster and less packed. The main problem is that the selection isn't big enough. Kinda against my better judgement I had combination rice - the hor fun probably would've been better, but I felt like rice, so....
Talked mainly about the world cup. Yeah...

Went to V's house afterwards to get his U2 CD with the proper 'One' clip on it - the one with the buffalos etc. Also to get some blank CDs to convert my stupid protected files before they all become unusable.

Was feeling rather worn out at home, so I watched a few episodes of Seinfeld, then did a bit of ironing while watching V's U2 DVD, which is kinda an intro to the DVD what I have. There was this thing called the 'history mix', which went through (rather briefly) the major songs from Actung Baby to All that you can't leave behind. So, thus, the Buffalo clip was shown - but very briefly. And I guess thats what V must've been thinking of.
Ripped the songs from his other CD - the B-sides to the Best of 1990-2000. The clip wasn't on there either....ai.

Unfortunately, itunes decided to be stupid with one burning CD, so that was a waste. And, if I had that one, I probably could've got them all. As it turns out, theres about 20 songs or so which still need to be converted - though that doesn't count the ones from Bigpond, which I can still hopefully get to work.

Watched X-Men 2 while finishing my ironing. It was a lot better in the cinema, I think. Especially the first scene with the teleporter guy.

So....1000 word essay to write tommorrow. I'm not too worried about it - though maybe thats just Ps Benny's fault?

Saturday, May 13, 2006

Homer: "So you can sit here crying and eating can after can of dog food till your tears smell enough like dog food to make your dog come back..."

"....or you can go out there and find your dog"
Bart: "I'll do it!"
Homer: "Oh...I almost had him eating dog food"

Got out of bed at 11:30. Yes. A bit too late there, isn't it?

Went for my appointment at 12. Ended up having to wait a little while anyway. Ordered 6 months supply of 2 week (not a month....) disposable lenses for about $240. So....good.

Went to 13 & o's house for 'brunch', even though we ate at about 1:30 - but it was brunch type food. Did my washing there - and dried it too, cos there was a dryer! Sweet....

Went in the pool for a little while, but even though outside it was like 30, the water was freezing. By the time I got out, I was like, singing U2 (if I could muster the strength) - "I feel numb".

Had some lovely tea - 2 cups worth. Man, I miss the stuff (cos I got no milk - see?). Watched some lovely Foxtel. Unfortunately, they've got that digital box office thingy, which means you have to pay for movies, so all the regular movie channels were blocked. But I found The Emporer's New Groove on Disney (did I mention how much I love that show?). Then I watched Becker, The Simpsons, Seinfeld, a bit of Saturday Night Live - which began with a nice George Bush joke (from about 2 years back) - "we've decided we don't really care about Iraq anymore" - and then some Lakewood Live and Hillsong TV, plus a few MTV type clips, though from channel V, I think. Anyway - quality viewing.

Went to an aunties house for dinner - I think some thing for mother's day, or something. I didn't eat much - that brunch thingy, you know.

Left at about 11, or so. Now its 12:15, and I, again, really want to sleep.

Friday, May 12, 2006

Cemetary guy: "Two other women came by that day. One was reeeeaaaal purty. The other....sorta plain"

Woke up too late again, even though its Friday. My milk was off, so no breakfast. Once again, as predicted, am completely out of food. I have chocolate and pasta and lots of ingredients for drinks of many kinds, but thats about it.

As I'd done a little before, tried crossing the road as a blind person, though probably more difficultly. I just looked away from the traffic (cos I was crossing in a diagnonal motion anyway) and used my ears. I heard two cars straight after each other, but its difficult to distinguish (if you are not turning your head to make full use of the stereo sound) if there is another car behind when one has just passed. So I gave a quick visual check. It still is really ear straining.

Day went really slowly. By 9:30, it felt like it should be lunchtime already. Still, 12:30 came around eventually.

Need I say who was at ye so called 'ol' celle lunche'? Need I mention what I had - that is, assuming I say what I get every week, which is always the same thing, which I probably don't mention, cos its not interesting enough?
Made some plans for the night, as in, none. We'll all just get there by 6:30.

Did little for the rest of the day - feeling pretty worn out, as I do every Friday. Did some more sorting out of songs. Managed to convince V at lunch (rather inadvertantly, I might add) to give me some of his blank CDs. And he assured me that the itunes files can also be burned, so I can convert those to a more safely longevitable (?) format too.

Watched the rest of 'Underworld Evolution' which I started watching some time ago. Deleted it as soon as I'd finished, with absolutely no second thoughts - it was NOT good. Took to reading my Dr Seuss book while the end was going on, cos I really didn't care.

Left to go to the thing about 6. I was early, but was kinda half-asleep, so I missed the exit and had to go one big round. Just got popcorn chicken from KFC, cos I wasn't that hungry. I remember it being a bit too processed, like, the last time I got it - and I was certainly not wrong with that analysis. Way too oversalty and oily - rather sickly making.

Anyway, so V had the great idea (and it shall be my pleasure to remind him of it for the rest of my life: "well, OK, so I that market crash thing was my fault, but just remember that Friday night when you suggested we....") of sitting on the floor in front. In hindsight, actually, we may well have been forced to do so, anyway, since they asked the 'younger' people to vacate their seats when too many people came in. Anyway, so we had very little room, to say the least. But apart from that....
Its nice to see someone so convinced that they are hearing from God, that they continue pressing the point even when they receive no response. Having asked about a 'left knee operation' and got nothing, by the end of the night, I think the count was 4+.

Thats life, I guess.

"Send me away, Minos, even to Tartarus, if Tartarus can cure glibness." - CS Lewis, Till we have faces

The first time I'd even seen Tartarus mentioned, outside of UWA email addresses...

Woke up too late again, so no praying.

My Dr Seuss book finally arrived. Didn't get time to read it till just before bed (about 11:30), so only read the one story - "Happy Birthday to You". The main thing I notice is the books that aren't in there, like 'Fox in Sox' and 'The Butter Battle Book' and 'Because a little bug went Ka-choo'. But, I guess he wrote lots, and different people like different ones.

Left work about 20 minutes early (I worked a bit in my lunch hour) so I could race home and get to South Perth in time. On the way home (about 5:30) I got a message from V saying it had been changed to KFC on Manning road. Had a mental block as to the whereabouts of Manning road - all I knew was that it was further than South Perth. So I had to get my map from my car to discover is up near Curtin there. So I left the house around 5:45.
There was a huge traffic jam on Mounts Bay Road - bumper to bumper from before the Swan Brewery. I was getting multiple calls from V which I finally answered around 6 (just as I was getting out of the jam). It was actually LH telling me that they were stuck in the city and wouldn't be able to get to the place before 7 so could I buy them food. Since driving a manual car with one hand isn't that easy, I had to like end the call there.
Got to the KFC in Manning road - cos I wasn't about to drive around South Perth, just in case theres not one there. I then wasn't confident about the directions I was getting to the actual place (cos I had left my map in my house), so I drove there to make sure, then drove back and bought food ("you must be hungry" says the serving lady. "yeah, sure" I say in a distracted manner). I ended up getting to the place about 6:40, or so, and waited "maybe 5, 10 minutes" for them all to show.

So the conference was pretty good. The main thing that struck me was though she said that wisdom was, if not a curse, then not something to be so sought after (and I actually feel that, if given the opportunity, she would clarify that there are different types - re: sources - of wisdom), yet she seemed to exhibit lots of it herself. Much of what she said, such as "the gospel has never been about what we (lowly mortals) want" would just as likely come from the mouth of my Intro to Theol lecturer. In fact, her denunciation of the prosperity gospel, infecting some of the major churches in Australia, is an almost carbon copy of what he said some weeks ago.
I guess my point is that, although I find some things she said a little hard to accept, its impossible to deny, based on other things she said, that she is genuine in her attempts to do what she is doing. I think it would be cause for concern if someone had worked in a slum for 40 years with the poor, then came back and said "I think we (Christians) are all doing enough, and its clear we've got this whole 'concern for the poor' thing nicely sewn up already".
Unfortunately, its hard not to feel a bit hypocritical - cos I feel absolutely no calling to minister to the poor at present. Not cos I don't want to - I just really don't want to.

"I know that I know that I know that I know my Redeemer lives" - Nicole C Mullen, Redeemer

No praying again - got out of bed at 7.

Due to WorkM's thumb drive being faulty (see yesterday), he was planning to buy I new one so was gonna give me his old one. Then he decides that he wants to keep the old one, anyway. But he is still buying a new one, so I got him to get me one as well - its like $18, or something. Though I will be paying later, of course.
He did return my Godfather collection, though he hasn't watched it yet, though apparently the rest of the family has.

Found a nice front-loader on special at Harvey Norman for like $500. Its $20 more expensive than a NEC at Retravision, but that one is a top-loader so it uses more water, and is also 1kg lighter in capacity. So it looks like I'm going there on Friday.
And am half-thinking about upgrading my TV - cos I'm getting very irritated at only having one channel input for sound. Also, I think its too small. Though I don't know exactly what size, and thus how much it would take to get a bigger one.

Managed to cut the middle finger on my right hand in three places (at once) without noticing till there were large amounts of blood on my hand, which WorkM noticed before me. And now they just look like blisters, or something.

Bought a latte with a $50. But, since I was part paying for WorkM's hot chocolate as well, I only needed $43 dollars change.

One of the partners came back today after like 4 weeks holiday. He always seems to be like 'you should enjoy work' sorta thing, but when I asked him if he was happy to be back, he said he'd much rather still be off on holiday. I guess you never can tell....

Ran that 'getdataback' programme on my new harddrive, but it was going for about 3 hours and had only done 20%, so I stopped it.
Went through some more of my WMA files. Will need to buy some CDs, cos I just discovered I have none. Bah!

Watched Thank God You're Here, though I missed the first act, which ended up winning. I actually thought it wasn't that good, though I liked the lady again, who, again, got a dishonourable mention.

Read about half of the fifth article for my assignment. Can be done easily.......of course, that is assuming I will give it the due time on Saturday and Monday.......which is not so easy.

Apu: "I'm going to party like its on sale for $19.99"

Woke up too late to pray. Walked downstairs and it was suddenly like 7:20 already - don't know how that happened.

Hardly any cars in the parking bay, for some reason. I keep expecting that they're suddenly gonna implode the building, or something.

Had to borrow money from WorkM to buy my coffee. He said I could pay him back by paying partly for his coffee tommorrow, but I still only have like 80c, then a $50. So, I donno whats gonna happen there.

Have about 20 pages left in my CS Lewis book thingy. Once again, it will be nice when I can finish it. Aaaargh! so much reading!

WorkM had some troubles over the weekend with a thumb drive getting a bad sector what an assignment was on and converting it to an unreadable file. So he found this programme by searching Google - 'getdataback' - which can find all this stuff from like formatted and even partioned drives. So I tried it myself on my old harddrive - but it only found 1 partition, which isn't the one I wanted. I'm thinking of trying it again on the new harddrive - just to see if I can recover all those deleted songs. Trouble is, this is just a demo version, which doesn't let you recover the files, only view them. So it was fine for him, cos it was only a text document....

Finally went back to my old WMA files to convert them to MP3 (by burning to a CD, then ripping back). However, none of them are working now cos they all say the licence is expired. So, about half I got with 1 site, and half with another site. So the first site is fine, cos you can just redownload the licences all at 1 go. However, some of them have been downloaded too many times already. However, most of the ones that I want and that I haven't converted already - which is basically the comedy sketches and a few new songs - are fine. But the other site doesn't have an automatic licence retrieval. I tried downloading the songs again, but the licence didn't come with it. So, I'll just wait for now.

Had a short audience with the Queen. On behalf of V, I asked if there are any princelings on the way, but the answer was not favourable. I was informed there will be a royal visit later this year, but it was not yet known if the king will be available. She assures me that, since her subjects had not reclaimed her robes from me previously, she would collect it in person herself. And she assures Ali of considerable wrath if said robes are disturbed.

Fin.

Homer: "Stand up for yourself, poindextor"

Stayed in bed for what felt like ages, after waking up in the middle of the night, and such. Figured it would be late - and it turned out to be like 9:03, or something.

Was gonna watch some other fun DVD, then Home Improvement was on TV, so I watched that instead. It was OK, y'know. Good mid-morning type television. Well, better than Kerri-Anne, or whatever.

Finished all lectures for week 7 for both Intro to Theol and BSM - so that means I'm finally up to date! Except that its likely the next two weeks (at least) will be a complete write-off, due to the fact that today should've been assignment writing time. And, instead, I'm gonna have to do it on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and, probably, Monday, which should've been time for the next assignment due the following Monday. Ah....

Did church account stuff, so everything is going fine there. I guess. I donno.

Played a bit more of CivII. I think I was able to limit myself pretty well. Sortof.

Only stepped out of the house once to get mail. And there was nothing for me. So, great.

I did read one more article for my assignment. So thats 4 done out of min 5, but actually 7. Or so. Of course, I haven't been doing any notetaking or even highlighting, so the benefit of such is probably small. And I keep meaning to read the question to find out what I'm actually supposed to be doing. Oh, well. I've still got a week. Almost. Sneh.

Watched Kill Bill while eating dinner. Such lovely music. Really quite irritating that that lovely tune just before she slices that Buck guy on the shin is on the CD, but that crup rup about O-ren is done over the top. Bah! And that I had to buy that whole other CD to get the Death Rides a Horse bit just which plays when she issues the challenge to the whole clan at the restaurant there.

13 & o were supposed to be back today. I'm hoping they brought me some souvenir.....or, at least, discovered some extra reserves of wedding cake.
Hah!

Sunday, May 07, 2006

Stephen Hawking: "I came to see your utopia, but it looks like more of a fruitopia"

Ushering again......cos V told me to. Hah!

Had to hurry for lunch, so I just got takeaway and ate it at V's house. And I say 'just got takeaway', but I was on line for the drivethrough at KFC for about 15 minutes.
Got a twister (again), but they didn't toast it. So that sucked then.

Went and looked at V's Pink Floyd poster from 'Mother' - a scrawl of 'mother should I trust the government' as written on the Berlin Wall (prior to it being torn down). Very appropriate. He hasn't put the Radiohead one up yet - its just on the floor with a whole bunch of other stuff.

Went for a CMC meeting. Lasted 1.5 hours or so. Managed to get my ushering committment cut by more than half, so that was nice.

Did the bank rec for last month, cos I only just got the statement. Found an amount that was out by 5 cents....decided it didn't matter.

Watched Ghost in the Shell while doing some ironing. Then more while watching the Simpsons. Then I watched some more Ghost in the Shell while having dinner.

It was then about 8:30, and there were movies on. So I finished my ironing while watching 'The League of Extraodinary Gentlemen'. I still don't really know enough about the characters - having read none of the books that they are in. But, would I really appreciate it more if I did? Probably less, I'm guessing.

X-Men was on after that - they are showing number 2 next week. Quite a good film - but again, I think I would be critical had I read the comicbook. My main complaint against comic book movies in real life is that they try and 'real world' it too much - like all this political stuff about mutants - I wonder if that was such a big feature of the comic.

It finished at like 1, so I went straight to bed. Great.

Oh, and I went to the Lourve. You want proof?
Heh.

Saturday, May 06, 2006

Leon Kapowsky: "To make a tired point - which of us is truly crazy?"

Homer: "Not me - I got this!"
(holds up certificate declaring 'not insane')

Woke up about 10:30 - thus too late to go for meeting. Too bad....

Played a bit of CivII after my shower till 11:30. Then did my washing. In the middle, watched the rest of Harvey Birdman and altered some account stuff.

Did my shopping around 2:30. Couldn't find a lighter - one of those long ones for lighting gas stoves (or even matches - I think they sell them at the cigarette counter).

Was gonna get KFC for lunch, but I wasn't THAT hungry, and figured I could just wait till dinner.

Watched one lecture from Intro to Theol week 7. Started reading the sources for my assignment - read 1 and 2 thirds out of about 7.

Went again through the songs for my ipod. Actually reduced it below the maximum number of songs.

Watched Return of the Jedi while eating dinner. The space battle scene is so much better than number 4...........or 5, but theres not really any in that one. Plus the bit through the trees - nicely harrowing type thing. Admittedly the ewoks get a bit irritating, but they don't have a huge role. Frankly, I don't understand why people rate it lower even than number 4 - but I have the same questions about Godfather 3.

Watched a bit more of Seinfeld, cos Swordfish was supposed to start at 9:30, and it didn't actually start till about 10. Though I don't really know why I watched it. Parts are cool, I guess - like the slo-mo 180 degree explosion at the start. But the ending is just stupid - they try and do a 'Usual Suspects' thingy, and its just, like, stupid.

Thats life, I guess.

Friday, May 05, 2006

Cletus: "I can call me ma from up here. Hey ma! Get off the damn roof!"

Prayed for less than 5 minutes.

Got some work done. I guess.

Went for lunch at 1. Just me and V (again). Looked through more of the posters. V wanted the melting watches by Dali, but it must've sold out (or something). He ended up getting a Radiohead one which was 5 TVs stacked on top of each other with the band members faces. I was half thinking about getting either that or the one with them on some street - but the faces don't mean anything to me. Thom Yorke looks absolutely nothing like I thought he would - and thus how he should look. So I just bought the Mona Lisa, cos I've always liked the idea of owning the most expensive art piece in the world. Although I'm not a huge fan of the painting - but its not too horrible. Plus, I can freak out all those Da Vinci Code idiots....

Watched the disc 1 of episodes of Harvey Birdman - which must've been about 8 out of 13. Ah - quite a funny show. And they are only 15 minutes (or maybe less), so it doesn't take long. Still haven't seen my (as far as I can tell) favourite, where the legal eagle is exchanged for legal canary, which is too light to type.....

Played a bit more CivII. Am currently in the process of playing a split-dimension game, and I have no idea how to move from one to the other. So....

Watched The Empire Strikes Back. Almost stopped it to watch 'Flashdance' on channel 7, but it was too enjoyable, and I felt sure that movie would suck - its about dancing, after all.

Technically have to wake up before 9 tommorrow - but I'm not worried if I don't make it. There's still my assignment and stuff, after all.

Thursday, May 04, 2006

Advisor: "Mayor, an unruly mob is here to see you"

Mayor Quimby: "Does it have an appointment"
Advisor: "Umm..........yes!"
Principal Skinner: "I phoned ahead!"

Took very long getting out of bed. Thus, no time for praying again.

WorkM has uni today (and tommorrow), so I was able to get quite a bit of work done. From my original estimate of late Tuesday, I finished the whole thing quite satisfactorially (in my opinion) by about 5:15. I was so proud I felt like leaving early - then I remembered the whole contract thing, so did some web surfing for 15 minutes instead.

I got an email in the morning from the footy tipping people, informing me that due to Fremantle winning the ruling, the results had all changed - and I went back from 6 to 5. And I checked the site and, yes, my worst nightmare had come true - WorkM won outright with 8. And but 15 minutes later he rang me and was saying how f***ing great it was etc.....So I was ordered to find out when he'd get his money. Which I did - though I don't know the point, since theres no way I can contact him.....

Got home, and the security light has a bung starter, so it flickers. So for the past three nights I've been turning on the other outside light so you can kinda see out there. So I did - and it blew. So now its pretty much pitch black, with about 2 second strobe lighting. Good setting for a horror movie, or something, actually.

Got a poster from some blue dog people from uni - a 1 by 1.4 poster of U2 albumn covers - not including the best of 1990-2000 or how to dismantle an atomic bomb. Its kinda the wrong shape for my wall (or any wall) cos its 1.4 long and 1 wide. But - I need something there. I should remember to get my others (esp the Simpson ones) back from my parents house. Though the corners of those are tearing off already. Wish my heavy Simpson one would stay on the wall.....

Went for dinner at McDonalds in Southlands, cos I had to meet the new pastor to discuss issues in relation to next financial year. Lasted about 2 hours.
Had the new burger - tasted like the old burgers. Bah! Has that pickly taste, even though I don't think theres any pickle. Looks like it will just be nuggets from now on.....

G'nite, now. Thank u.

"Ezekiel 29:17 - the path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the iniquities and the tyranny of evil men..." - Jules, Pulp Fiction

Slept in till about 6:45. Thus, didn't have time to pray.

Also, didn't have time for breakfast - ate half of one of my rolls, then threw it away cos I didn't want any more.

Was very hungry by ten, so got a picnic. Was also craving some caffeine - I was tired, y'see.

WorkM was trying for the whole day to convince me to ring some Burswood Honda people to see when they were expecting to get any black VTI Civics. I didn't.
He was then going on about the St Kilda-Fremantle result, cos he had tipped Fremantle and the only person ahead of him had tipped St Kilda, but they had a closer margin for the first game.

Some more Amazon stuff arrived - a Lene Marlin CD and Harvey Birdman DVDs. I'm thinking none of these purchases are must have stuff - I should've waited longer. Mainly to just bulk up the order for my Dr Seuss book, but they all ended up shipping seperately anyway.....

Had another picnic at lunchtime, but I only had 55 cents so WorkM had to put in the extra 5. Whatever would I do without him?

Had to pay for my coffee with a $50....

Discovered that WorkM2 is leaving in a month or so. Might have never really been sure, but WorkM insisted on spelling it out for me in large letters. He must think us Americans are slow, or something.........

Had a nice meeting in the afternoon, for two and a half hours or so. Actually, was feeling even more sleepy by the end.

Its so dark by the time I go home now.

Watched half of the Simpsons, then remembered that I had to go for cell at 7, so hurriedly made my dinner and ate it hurriedly, giving myself severe stomach cramps.

Very small cell - there was only 6 of us for the first half, then Ali showed up. And me and V are back to being the only 2 guys - not since 2003, or wateva. Cept there's Chong's John Chong of course - but he wasn't there. Again. And hes still got my Untouchables....

I think the original estimate was that we'd finish early - didn't happen. Well, maybe it was early by our standards. Looked at some wedding photos.

V was insisting that he got his cold from me. Its probably true, cos mine is pratically gone already - like the fastest and least severe flu I've ever had.

"Oh praise the One who paid my debt, and raised this life up from the dead" - Jesus paid it all, Passion

Prayed for about 10 minutes in the morning, I guess.

Discovered that my chicken was smelly, so had to throw it away and just use salami instead. Which means that there is only 1 slice of that left now.

Managed to squeeze my way into the parking lot. Then, my bay was half taken up by some other car which didn't park properly, so I had to park half in the other bay next door. Yay.

Was out at clients office till 3. Then I didn't take lunch, so had to have it at 3:15 - I was pretty starvink. Yes.

Stuff arrived from Amazon - CD by Live and Daniel Bedingfield, and a saxophone book.

Left at 5 cos I worked extra last Thursday.

Played a bit more CivII before going shopping. Had to by meat for sandwiches, and straws. Only wanted 10, but it was 100 for $1.30, so....

More house stuff breaking down - the starter for the automatic flourescent light out the front has gone, so it just flickers all the time. Then, the tap in the kitchen is almost coming off the bench. And did I mention the light in my room has blown to? And its cover is such that changing it is not really possible.

Watched Star Wars episode IV - ah, I love that banter! Tis so refreshing....I believe I've mentioned that before.

As for the quote - I was driving in my car yesterday towards Harvest West, and the version of 'Jesus paid it all', which I guess is one of them old hymns, that was redone by Passion on their latest CD was playing. And, as an extra bit at the end they sing that line - to particular effictiveness, might I add.
Anyway, so for QT that night, ODB used the line within the reading and I thought 'hey, thats like that song'. And, whaddayano, for the token poetry extract at the bottom was the chorus to that song. So....yep.
Don't believe me? Well, here's some proof, then.

I win!

Mr Prince: "Wow, Martin, you just made a million dollars!...And now you've lost all but $600. You got greedy, Martin."

Woke up about 10.

After breakfast, watched lecture 3 of week 6 for Intro to Theol. So now I'm only a week behind again, cos its still holidays - but then there's the assignment to be written. Oh, make that two.

My timetable told me to go and get sources for my BSM essay, so I did. And it turned out that I only needed five sources, and those are all on the net. But I photocopied 3 articles, anyway.

Watched another episode of Ghost in the Shell while having lunch - thats number 13. Ooohhh....

Did about an hour or more of account stuff, to prepare all the sheets and that for Sunday.

Tried to make coffee, and was again unsuccessful. I really have no idea whats going on - the water is boiling too much, I guess, but I don't know why, or how to stop it.

Watched Silence of the Lambs, again. And thus remembered that I wanted Red Dragon, so I've got it ready to order from Amazon, as well as Vanilla Sky. They are both less that US$7, though that doesn't include shipping.

Tried to write some more of my story. Pretty unsuccessfully - I wrote a time, and thats it. The trouble is I'll need to read most of it again and then write something so I can get the momentum back again. And, chances are, I won't have time to add any more, so it will be a rather fruitless exercise.

Read some more of my CS Lewis book. Although its good, I'm really looking forward to starting something else. 'Twelve Ordinary Men', a collection of Tolkein, 'The Weight of Glory' and 'A Grief Observed'....plus I've got 'Mere Christianity' to read again, and then theres the textbook and all that course reader stuff. Not to mention The Apocrypha and the bible proper.

It irritates me no end that I am essentially unable to practice neither my saxophone nor Mandarin, due to the circumstances in this house. Even if I did have the time. Which I probably would, if it was convenient enough that I could.

It occured to me not long ago that I had an appointment with the optometrist today at 2, which I completely forgot about. Dang. Now I'll probably have to wait another two weeks or so....and these disposables probably can't last that long.

Its my mums birthday today.
Happy birthday Mrs Triglone, wherever you are!

Hah.
