"Its ironic" - Elaine, Seinfeld

Lady on train: "What's ironic?"
Elaine: "This..... that we've come such a long way, but we've had to give up all the little benefits."
Lady: "No; what does ironic mean?"

I notice that all the posts for this week have been considerably longer than normal, whereas all the ones for last week were a lot shorter than normal. Isn't that ironic? No. I don't think it is.
Weird, though. It was almost like I had nothing left to blog, and now its like I can't blog enough. Maybe.

Got up just before 8:30. Was thus ready for my shopping in plenty of time. Went to Coles, cos I wanted steak. Didn't buy much, and, as a result, when I got home I realised I'd neglected to buy cheese. And frozen vegetables - although I did look, but couldn't find the one I wanted, which was (I later discovered) Heinz Golden Mix, which corn, red capsicum, onion and some other stuff. It puts all the others that I've had so far to shame. Seriously. I also discovered slightly later on that I only have two tea bags left.

Started watching week 5 of lectures - aren't I dedicated? I am actually considering trying to do some units just for interest sake - so with no assessments, but no credit either. But that's OK - since, really, I think me wanting a degree is only for pride, since I'm not really planning to do anything with it, cept go around saying I also have an arts degree. But I donno..... However, that will also give me more flexibility, so I don't have to do those horrible theology units. And I shouldn't have to worry about prerequisites, so I can hopefully do some more advanced (and thus more interesting) stuff. Like church history, and that. And some more in depth book studies. But, yeah, I guess I'll try one unit like that next semester and see how. I do want to focus on my sax and mandarin, though.

I probably got about 3/4 way through. Then it was 11:30, so I left to go to 13's house for the grand final. Then it turned out it was at War's house instead. Lots of people there, who were being very noisy. And most didn't seem to know much about football, and were very jumping on the bandwagon Eagle supporters. Anyway, I didn't want Sydney to win (cos Barry Hall's an idiot and their defensive style sux), but I thought they would and had bet $5 for them to win by 8 points. So I decided to play Devil's Advocate and cheered for them. Ah....so funny. Especially those last 15 minutes or so; everyone else was like killing themselves with worries. It was very amusing. Anyway, so Dean Cox has got his premiership thingy now, so he can go and retire. Hah.

Went to Ps Benny's Installation Service after that. Was nice to see all these like overseas pastors and that.
I spoke to some guy from the like Planetshakers WA church....Lakeside or something? He knew Swan from TICC days....or not quite. More like from NLCC days. And they said that Ps Benny did some sort of pastoring thing at NLCC.....I tried to tell people that. They didn't believe me.
And then some Ps Steve who sounded American but was from some Singaporean church thing, or so. How super.
Anyway, the worship and that was very powerful....I guess from all those pastors. Hmmmm.....

Watched Sister Act at night. Isn't that just so funny and uplifting? Great. A bit not very Christian though...... I donno..... It just seemed to stand out a bit more than I thought.
Then Sister Act 2 was on. But it looked pretty bad. So I just went and did other stuff, like sorting out my computer by being screwed by Media Player. Which is another thing I'll have to ask V tomorrow.

Managed to find Our Daily Bread in with my clothes to be ironed. I must've picked it up with them when I had the clothes near my bed on Thursday to take them downstairs to put on the chair near the ironing board. So.....there you go.

Slept a bit too late again. Like 12, or so.

Homer: "Where's that..... metal deely...... you use to.... dig..... food?"

Got up pretty early.......about 6:30, I think. Cos I was excited, cos we get to wear free dress, cos of the final. Pity I don't care a bit about football.........but I wore my blue jeans and some yellow shirt that I got a few days ago - although it was a bit more yellow than I thought it would be.

I was thus able to finally show Mogli my bruise in person. I have to say, he looked pretty pleased with himself. And my clothes passed the intense fashion test.....so that just makes it all worthwhile now, doesn't it?

Went down to his dad's place. Stayed there about an hour and a bit. Left at 9:40 and went down to another client.

Got there at 10, and paid the payments that could be afforded - which wasn't much. Ah....

So then it was about 11:40, so I went back again. A bus was passing the stop just when I was getting there, so I figured I'd walk back - the first time, since the hill has always put me off. But another person (who shall remain nameless) walked back from the middle of the city carrying a large box, so I figured I'd try it. And it wasn't a wise idea - that's a very steep hill and it was a rather warm day and I was wearing jeans.

I was obviously fairly red by the time I got back - Mogli told me so. Tried to finish off a review, cos I have to go back to the city client on Tuesday, but I didn't quite finish.

Left at 1. Mogli was also finishing at 1 cos of his wedding (no, not HIS wedding....he's gay). Anyway, so he was meeting some people, and his cousin (the one that told him there wasn't a Krispy Kreme in the QANTAS terminal and thus he couldn't bring any back......hmmm) decided at the last moment he was going to drink and not give him a lift. So he asked me to drive him out to Applecross....and I figured I wanted to go to Garbo anyway, so I agreed. Besides, he's going away and I wanted to have a final discussion about crap.

Garbo was pretty crowded, as per usual. I went to Gloria Jeans and got a VVL. Lucky I got it for free by using my 'buy 10 get 1 free' card (and the price has gone up to $4.25 now, so I cheated them. HAH!!!), cos it wasn't up to the usual, admittedly very high, standard.
Then I went to Sanity to get the Red Hot Chili Peppers Greatest Hits. Couldn't see it, so I had to ask. And they had it behind....don't know where else. It was only $17, but I noticed when I got home that it has one less track than V's does. Which is strange.......cos surely there wouldn't be, like, two Australian versions, one with a bonus track. And, if there was, you'd expect the bonus track one to be the later one that there is leftover stock of. Will have to ask V about that........I'll add it to the list. Cos I feel bad about asking him stuff midweek, cos he's obviously very busy. But then it gets to Sunday and I forget stuff.

Had to get petrol on the way back. Ever since I came back from cell on Wednesday from like South street it was on the last flashing square. If I'd remembered, I would've done something about it, but I was almost at the Canning Highway exit when I saw it. So I had to just drive to Garbo hoping that I wouldn't suddenly run out.

Finished watching Casino, which I started a few days ago. The bit in the middle where it goes fuzzy seems to have gotten better, but more widespread. I realised at the end that the bit where he goes to meet Nicky in the middle of the desert seemed to have been completely skipped. Its still great when its got that Animals song playing and everyone getting whacked. Yay! I'm sure that The Departed won't even begin compare.....but I guess its good to go with low expectations. I mean, The Aviator was OK......but only OK.

Watched Shrek on TV while I got KFC in what is becoming a bit of a Friday night tradition. The Tuxedo was on after that, but Jackie Chan's later films just don't cut it.....cept Rush Hour and Shanghai Noon were quite good. Even Rush Hour 2 wasn't that bad, as I recall......unlike Shanghai Knights.

Slept only just before 12. Not really in the plan.....but what you gonna do?

Thursday, September 28, 2006

Bart: "Lise, I need some advice and mum's not home."

Lisa: "Why didn't you go to dad?"
Bart: "I did, but I couldn't understand a word he was saying"

Got up just before 7. I already had lunch (from Tuesday) and I didn't feel like breakfast, so just left like straight away like. Wore one of grandpa's funky ties - it didn't go very well with the shirt, but lots of people noticed...or, maybe thats why they noticed.

The morning was fairly unproductive for all concerned. Mogli was running around trying to get people to bet on the winning margin in the footy final, plus there were two cards going round for people leaving and with weddings. Then W& sent around the penguin hitting game, so we were all playing that for a bit. Then someone else sent around some reaction/control game moving this red square. And then someone else brought in Corica's apple strudel for morning tea, so that was another half an hour.

Then I had to go into the office with the partner for some weird calculation of the value of a property in a partnership. That last an hour and a quarter, which was half my lunchbreak. And not much was accomplished. Then he came out again and changed his mind back to his original plan. Then he came out again with more changes......it was only finalised by about 3:40. And then, when I had done the calculation, it came out different by only $2.88 (out of $4 million plus). So I just left it the same, basically. Except there were some expenses that were capitalised. Ai....

Mogli didn't pay much attention to my poor bruised arm......well, he kinda did, cos now I'm probably gonna get a bruise on the other one as well. But I can't, resist, really. Hitting people is so much fun. Especially when he's an idiot, like Mogli is. He's away next week....how am I gonna cope?

Left at 5, due to my shortened lunch break. Watched The Simpsons, then Futurama from yesterday, then Futurama from today, then Thank God You're Here from yesterday. Aaaahhh...such a lovely show. My Name is Earl wasn't on for some reason - a double episode of that terrible survivor show, maybe?
So I watched The Sopranos from yesterday. Its still great, but quite different, I guess. Its interesting to see, now, a bit of the family (and the....extended family) interacting with the media, fairly abusively, due to the frenzy over Tony being shot. And I like the extended dream sequence, which is always something I found irritating before (when it happened in other episodes) but now they're parts I really look forward to, especially the two long dreams just before he kills Pussy Bompansero and Tony B.

I watched some trailers from the podcast I subscribed to, which I discovered cos V said he'd been watching all these trailers in itunes - so I guess its the same thing. I thought the US vs John Lennon looked good, even though its horribly biased, of course, and they're gonna draw the inevitable parallels between then and now. And its from the studio that produced Fahrenheit 9/11, so no guessing where its loyalties lie.....
Nothing else really appealing....they are making Saw III now, even though II is like barely on video. Ai.

Watched Ronnie Johns, but I wasn't expecting it to be good, and it pretty much lived up to expectations.

Slept about 10:40. I seem, somehow, to have lost Our Daily Bread. Which is weird, cos the only place it ever is is I'm reading it, or its sitting on top of those other Christian books next to the bed. Yet, it seemeth to have completely vanished....

Grandpa Simpson: "Death stalks you at every corner..... aaaaah! Death!"

Woke up with my alarm at 6, which was bad cos I wasn't getting up at 6, but I forgot to turn it off the night before. Went back to sleep and woke up with the proper alarm at 7:30. Then got up about 7:40.

Didn't feel like breakfast. Watched a bit of Sunrise while I was waiting to leave. Saw some thing about bad bosses, which was inspired by that Devil Wears Prada movie, so they showed some clips.

Left at 8:30 to drive to Mt Lawley to pick up my mother. She was ready already (dur...), so we left almost straight away and drove down to Kelmscott via Graham Farmer Freeway then Tonkin Highway. Interesting.....

Anyway, we got there about 9:40, which was before anyone else - but only just before. It was really only immediate family - except for my mother's sister and her husband came as well. I met an.....hmmm.....Great Cousin, I guess, if there is such a thing. The daughter of a Great Uncle. Yeah.

So they had a viewing before the service thingy. That was interesting, cos I realised I'd never seen a dead body in person before. Its weird, cos it kinda looked like he was just sleeping, but then it kinda didn't. I expect the sensation would be different if it was someone who died 'wrongfully' - because my grandpa died of, essentially, old age (although technically it was cancer), he was obviously very old and scarred, etc.

So we waited awhile and then there was the service. It was fairly short, and was really just one celebrant-type lady talking. Was nice and simple, and she didn't make any drastic errors. Apart from the fact that my grandma had a little trouble hearing (but she got a recording and a type-written in large font copy after), everyone seemed to agree that it suited the type of thing that grandpa would've wanted.

Briefly spoke to some relos afterwards. Spoke to the daughter of my grandma's brother, who's husband is an accountant in a single person (as far as I could tell) practice. Gave her a card....just for networkings sake.

Went back to grandma's house after that, for a bit of lunch, etc. I tried to get grandpa's computer to work, cos my dad wanted a document off there about shares (he has quite an impressive portfolio), and also to print some letters later. But lightning struck some years ago and destroyed the printer - it also appears to have destroyed the disk and CD drive. So it was ultimately decided that a new computer was required.

Left just after two, after my dad and his brother had come back from the crematorium. Had to drive my mother back to Mt Lawley, then went back home myself. Arrived about 3:30. So I did my washing.

I found a photo of him....but its not a terribly good one. I didn't have my camera for very long at this point - back at Christmas in 2003; though he obviously looked a lot better back then.

Principal Skinner: "Yes; hail to the bus driver. Bus driver man"

Got up at 6:45. I figured it would be too early - but it wasn't really. Cos while I was finally finishing off my cornflakes, I remembered that I had to present the Webb Martin update, so I had to like review all the stuff. Yeah. Great.

Wore my white tie today. Looks great....but you don't want to touch it. Its stiff, etc.

Made my lunch, but didn't eat it. And I won't eat it tomorrow either. So its gonna be weird by Thursday. Ewww.....

Did that training thing. It was great. Then there was an extremely length discussion, with not only no conclusion but no possibility of one, about the Christmas lunch. People seemed to be inclined towards a boat based thing of some kind - but, really, no-one was putting up much of an opinion one way or the other. Reminds me of something.....

Was helping Mogli with like the same client as last week - they are not good bookkeepers. He seems to be almost done, though. And I'd even say that he's kinda learning something. Maybe.

Went out for lunch at West End Express. There were like 10 of us, and we had to squeeze around these three tiny little tables. I had a steak sandwich, which was nice, but I think it might have been the reason for some.....near accidents later in the day, accompanied just prior by some.....uncomfortable sensations. Say no more.

The afternoon was a bit weird - one of the partner's, Mr South Africa, was trying to teach Mogli and me some words in Zulu, cos the Zulu word for motorcycle and tractor is pronounced like the sound that they make.......or something. So we went to various websites, looking at weird Zulu words. I finally found one with motorcycle, but not tractor. Apparently its idagadaga, or something.....
So that lasted like half an hour. Then he went away for 15 minutes, then came back and started on much the same sort of spiel, this time about chameleons, where Mogli shocked me once again by saying that he'd never even heard of such an animal, and obviously had no idea what it did, with the changing colour and the mobile eyes and the long fast tongue. Mr South Africa used to own some, or so I gathered.
So that was another half an hour. Then it was 5:30. Hah.

Watched The Simpsons, then some more Kill Bill Vol. 2, then Futurama, more Simpsons, more Futurama, and the end of Kill Bill Vol. 2. I watched the short acting credits, where they show the characters and their names with the actors names. And I discovered that the guy who plays the Sheriff who investigates the 'Massacre at Two Pines' in 1 ("she's a blood spattered angel") is the same guy who plays Senor Estaban who directs Beatrix Kiddo (AKA The Bride AKA Black Mamba AKA....Mommy *sigh*) to Bill's house in 2. Fascinating. And then, it appears that his deputy, who calls him 'pa', is his real life son.....
V told me on Sunday that Disney owns Miramax, and that they were angry at Quentin Tarrantino cos he said that Kill Bill is a film that all children should see. Isn't life just full of surprises?

Went to bed about 11. Can sleep in a little tomorrow, cos I don't have to leave until about 8:30 to pick up my mum at 9. Bound to be an interesting day.....I'm probably not prepared.

And finally.....I told Mogli about the significant pain my arm was in, but we still couldn't resist fighting. I'm hoping I managed to hurt him as much as he did me....but I'm not positive about that.

Krusty: "I want to suck......."

".....your blood"

I officially gave up on my course today, cos I had an assignment which was basically due today, and I decided not to do it. So..... its too bad, really. Mainly cos I don't have a proper excuse to take Monday's off. I've been considering trying to get it altered to a half day, and start after lunch, or something. But that may be a risky strategy........besides, from December (abouts) I want to start continuing with my sax and Mandarin - don't my description on the side there still say that? Plus, maybe it will give me some time to keep going with my, like, 10 year old novel writing.....
(yeah right)

Got up about 8:30 today. The bathroom was calling me, as per usual. Ai.....

Had to stay downstairs till about 10:30, so I finished off my ironing while watching part of Kill Bill Volume 2, then I continued reading some article (which proved out to be a pointless waste of time, of course, but I didn't read much of it, so that's OK).

Had some business shirts arrive, one being black, which looked really cool. The other was light blue....but I can use it to replace the light blue one I already have, but is big and....frumpy. They also came with a bonus tie, which actually seems quite nice. Certainly of better quality than your standard Asian tie thingy - ie, that white one, which said it was silk - more like silk paper, or something. Heh. Although, really, material shouldn't matter that much; except maybe for longevity.

Did some accounts stuff in the afternoon - managing to catch up to some extent. Just a few more little cash payments to put in. Hooray.

Parents came over at about 4 or so. They had to send some photos on some CD to someone, or something. Then my mum stole my Dr Seuss book. I was really sad about that.

Went to Dome and had.....coffee. Well, actually, I had a white Vienna, mum had a spearmint milkshake (and she said it was too sweet - sigh) and dad had some banana smoothie thingy. Then I had a choc chip cookie (should've had the white choc macadamia - oh well) and dad had some sort of fruity type slice thing.

Then we went out to my auntie's place, and scanned more photos. Then mum showed her some ties, and I decided to take some. I think they were my grandad's - almost sure of that, actually. Anyway, they're quite....busy....that's them below - the first two rows. I doubt they'll go with much bar white.

Then we went to some Thai (apparently) noodle place in Mt Lawley - Bliss. Mum had read a review in the paper, or something. It was OK - not terribly authentic. Definitely not Thai....sort of fusion between Australian Chinese and.....modern Australian, I guess. Mum had Ho Fun Combination - and the noodles were right, but that's it. All the 'combination' stuff was big and on top.

Got home just before 7:30, and was gonna watch the Idol results show at about 8:15, but then I accidentally saw the result online. Too bad. Can't say I'm a fan of the country girl (I'm not a fan of any of them), but she seemed better than about half the others. Ah.... See, I pretended to care.

Mum wanted me to tape a film at 12:15 with BillyBob Thornton called, as she said, 'hard' something. So it turned out to be called 'A Simple Plan'. Anyway, I've never used the delayed timing thingy on my video, so I put a 5 hour tape in at 10....it probably won't get the ending. Its tragic, really. I'm sure those other people will get it, anyway. Yep. Sure.

Went to bed about 10. Didn't read the textbook. Heh.

Millhouse: "So this is what it sounds like... when doves cry"

I can always trust V to come up with some crazy quote completely out of left field. I was getting a lift with him to Southlands for lunch (just for a change, y'know), and we were just saying nothing, so he came out with that - though he may have been quoting the song. Anyway, I mentioned it was quite appropriate, cos I can't imagine doves making much noise when they do cry. Isn't that just the most stupid thing to say then? Its just like V to like a song like that just because its stupid. Though that can't be the whole reason.....surely.

I noticed this morning that I have a huge bruise on my upper arm, which I'm pretty sure is Mogli's fault, cos he's always trying to beat me up at work.....usually with his head, incidentally.

Spoke to Leo (hmmm, there's someone starting at work with that name next week - as in next next week) about not doing this course anymore. He suggested I go over to Tabor and do the night stuff, or something. It might be good doing the same thing as someone else at the same time, but he's probably way far out in front of me, anyway. Besides, I donno if I could get credit - and nighttime? Ai.....

Me and V both got the usual for lunch..... Then I finally got to ask him about the Pink Floyd album Animals which I was planning to go to some record store and listen to - so he tells me he's already got it and that its not that good. Then we had some discussion about upcoming movies, like Jackass 2 and The Departed. And, finally, the conversation inevitably turned to Stipey and Friends, who released an old compilation of greatest hits that doesn't include Shiny Happy People, much to V's disgust, although I did try to point out that it wasn't released at the time.
So, that was that, then.

Decided to watch Kill Bill again, so started with Volume 1. Watch a bit of Idol inbetween - I would have to say it was probably the worst one I've ever seen. Anyway...
Did some ironing afterwards and finished with Volume 1. Started watching Bruce Almighty, but it gets too preachy and stuff towards the end, so I stopped that.

Went to bed just after 12. Seriously, I don't know what it was I was doing. Watched a few movie trailers, like The Departed (with that bad version of Comfortably Numb at the end), Jackass 2 plus a few other films which looked quite bad.

"I would never have even considered working in construction, and its the best thing I ever did"

I think that's the quote from that No Limits ad.....it may be a little different.....seemed funny to me.....maybe I read too much into this stuff....

Got up about 8, or a little past. Thus I left to go shopping about 8:30. Lots of lovely parking. Didn't buy nothing exciting, though.

Watched more Sopranos. Saw Tony, or some other guy, refer to 'circle the wagons' as a reference to be prepared for some ensuing battle of some sort, having never heard the expression prior to doing some online crossword a day or so ago. But its probably referring to those American old westerner type thingys.

Went to lunch at Tiamos with my parents, who are down for.....Wednesday, apparently. We then decided to go watch some film, and the only thing of interest to me (since the films I really wanted to watch have basically finished their season) was The Devil Wears Prada, which was showing at the local (Windsor) in an hour. So we slowly went over there.......
Were kinda freaked out by the ad outside, since it said it wasn't starting till the 28th....but I did mention a few times that this was an advance screening.

So it was quite a good film........reminded me of In Good Company - not that it was really anything like that, but that sort of film; good to pass some time with, but not something you'd rush out to watch again. I actually thought that Meryl Streep was underused, considering she is the title character. Most of the spite actually came from the surrounding fashion people - although most of them turned out to be redeemed in the end, whereas she proved, if not evil, then at least superficial and proud to the core. I suppose.

Finished season 5 of the Sopranos, then watched the end of Spy Kids 3D (which was really quite bad), then started watching Captain Corelli's Mandolin, which I've wanted to watch ever since I read that Red Dog book by the same guy. And, really, much of the film was in the same sort of vein - all this weird humour stuff. I read a review which said Nicholas Cage was miscast - maybe cos he was very not Italian, but apart from that - he seemed to fit the role perfectly to me. Anyway, I watched about a quarter, maybe, then realised what was inevitably gonna happen, and I needed sleep, so I stopped.

Actually slept about 11-11:30, maybe, but.....

Lisa: "I feel like I'm gonna die, Bart"

Bart: "We're all gonna die, Lise"
Lisa: "I meant soon"
Bart: "So did I"

Was ready by 7, but didn't have breakfast - not quite sure why.

Gave Mogli my remaining cup o soup, even though its a flavour what he gave me before cos he said he didn't like it. But he reckoned he was hungry, or something.

Got a hot chocolate from the coffee guy. Yay.

Left work at 1. I didn't bring any lunch, and no-one was going out, so I thought nyah. Or something.

Watched Thank God You're Here from Wednesday. A very quite good episode. Or should that be quite very good?

Went down to pick up parcels at 3:15. I realised just when I left that one was attempted to be delivered this morning, and it said it wouldn't be available till after 3:45. So I drove around some sidestreets on the river side of Claremont there. Didn't see any big expensive houses, but went through about 5 of those 40kmph school zones.....

Read through a few more articles.....skimmed through them, really. Cos most of what they said seemed to be irrelevant.

Watched some more Sopranos, and looked briefly at the football. Ah, the poor Dockers lost. Ah, the poor partner who flew over there on Thursday night.........heh heh. I'm not sorry at all.

Tried to watch Maid in Manhattan at night, cos Raplh Fiennes is in it - but I really couldn't stand it. Besides, Charlie's Angels, which Mogli says is my favourite movie cos of Cameron Diaz AND Lucy Lui was on, so I watched that instead. How nice.

Slept about 11:30, cos planning to do my shopping very early in the morning, and do large amount of washing as well.

Thursday, September 21, 2006

Fry: "What if the secret ingredient is....people!"

Leila: "No, there's already a soda like that - Soyland Cola"
Fry: "Oh. How is it?"
Leila: "Well, it varies from person to person."

Went down to a clients office first thing in the morning. Wanted a coffee for my traditional 'walk down the terrace' (or road, wateva). So the coffee guy was just turning up as I was getting there, so I thought I'd go upstairs and get the stuff then come down like 5 minutes later and get one then. So I came down, and he was gone. Well, I wasn't happy, so I resolved not to buy one again in protest.
Anyway, so that lasted till 12..........

So I wasn't able to do very much down there, cos, apparently, everyone was out at a conference. So I stayed till 9:30, then went back again.

Sort of managed to finish off some work. So that was nice.

Went for a walk at lunch to Hay Street in West Perth, cos Mogli had to deposit his tax refund cheque. Then we poked in at Miss Maud's, and there was like this large slice of chocolate cake for $2. So Mogli bought that and I had half. Pretty darn good cake - and bargain price. I'm guessing it was slightly old, but still tasted pretty fine.

Due to the early final tomorrow and the subsequent cancellation of Neighbours, they had a double episode tonight which thus removed the Simpsons. So I watched The Sopranos from the night before. Then Futurama, then Futurama from yesterday. Then My Name is Earl, which was quite good - a nice ending which seemed pretty real. Then I started watching Jericho, but it sucked. So I waited until 10 and watched Ronnie Johns, but that sucked too. Ah......
Slept about 11.

"Let's all make believe that we're still friends and we like each other" - Oasis

Got up at 7:05, so no time for breakfast or lunch. Anyway, I was supposed to be fasting.....but no time for that, neither.

Was helping Mogli for a lot of the day, after I had a 33 minute phone call sorting out some queries. He was doing some job where the "bookkeeper" was rather hopeless, so he had to reconstruct the whole MYOB thing. It felt like a lot of the day, anyway......

Got a coffee, a latte with 1.5 sugars. It works really well, actually. Not a patch on the VVL, of course, but close to as good as you can get without that.

Went to the city with Mogli, cos he was buying some wedding presents or something. Took a bus down, then went through the various mall thingy's to the store which was near Crazy Clark's next to Myer about Woolworths. Ended up taking one small wrong detour, up to the upstairs eatery, which meant we had to go around in a circle back to the same place.
Had lunch at Red Rooster. I got the skin free BLT, but it took quite a while to be ready.
Got back to work a little late. Ah, well. I was real devastated.

Got quite hungry in the afternoon, so was forced to open two packets of biscuits. One was horrible peanuty cookies, but the other was lovely custard creams. So that was OK.

Had to tape Thank God You're Here again, cos I went to cell. Luckily it finished quite early, so I was able to eat a few bowls of porridge and some cake, and still got home just in time to tape episode one of season 6 of The Sopranos. Watched it until the first ad break. Then went to sleep.

"Shine on you crazy diamond" - Pink Floyd (re: Syd Barrett)

Woke up before my alarm, and was surprisingly not feeling very tired. Then I deliberately didn't get up, cos I'm not going in till 8:30. Then I got up at about 6:40, and was feeling pretty tired. I donno what's going on here.....

Ended up leaving the house at 7:45, and so got there at 8 anyway. I had a toilet break and that, and didn't do any work, so that was like any other day......heh.

Went down to a clients office at 8:30 till 11:30. Nothing much happening down there, except irritating drilling and that.

Then I got back and there was some alarm, which turned out to be coming from the first floor. I'm guessing someone was breaking in and stealing the diamonds......

Then there was more drilling going on probably from the upstairs people. Aaarggh!

Anyway, the quote courtesy of a client who calls his company (a shell, essentially) Crazy Diamond.....I was wondering if he is a fan of Syd Barrett......

Mogli was trying to incite a mass exodus at lunch time, but no-one was giving much away. We did eat some pistachios though.......such lovely nuts.

Had good ol' training, so me, Mogli and W& walked down. Mogli had to go to some audit client next door - they had some nice couches in the lobby.
Anyway, so thank god the horribly boring guy from last week wasn't there, although it still was rather boring, but what do you expect. At least that lady knows what she's talking about. Now I have to present this stuff, cos I drew my own name last week. Great.

Watched all of 5 seconds of The Simpsons - which wasn't so bad, cos my favourite part is the softball song at the end (we're talking Homer, Ozzie and the Straw) which they always cut out due to wonderful previews......

Watched some more Sopranos, then Futurama, more Simpsons and more Futurama.
Then I tried to read some more of some article and some more textbook before sleeping about 10:45.

Ringer: "Can't..... move.... arm.... or.... speak.... at..... normal..... rate. Oh...... man!"

Woke up a little before my alarm, but then turned it off and went back to sleep. Got up about 7:45, probably.

Worked from 9-11. Got some money, so that was nice.

Rest of the day was like finishing off ironing, watching some more Sopranos and reading sources for the essay due next week. That last thing is really dull - makes me want to sleep. Have done about 2.5 articles out of 8 so far.

Watched The Simpsons and Futurama, then saw the Idol verdict, but the verdict only. I was hoping that Ricky would go (I mean, in the final two)......too bad. Oh well.

Watched SVU then, which was good but they're all repeats now, and I'd seen them both before.

In the midst of that, I finally remembered to take my old registration sticker off my car (from August). Then I left the window to dry to stick the new one on tomorrow.

Read some more of my textbook - probably finishing by about 11:30 again......maybe a bit earlier.

"When I was 17, it was a very good year...." - Frank Sinatra, The Sopranos

Woke up before my alarm. Was thus ready quite early. Was thus waiting around in the office for some time.

Had Jesters for lunch. They didn't have any stockmans left, so I had to have a taj mah hal. Which wasn't so bad. Also, the nutty chook kinda began to fall apart.

Watched about 4 episodes of season 5 of The Sopranos, partly while eating lunch, partly while eating dinner, partly while doing ironing, mainly to prepare a bit for season 6. Also, sort of trying to find that episode with that Frank Sinatra song - its been driving me crazy. But I have since discovered that its almost certainly from either season 2 or 3, latest season 4. Oh well. Not enough spare time at the moment to go back that far. Especially not before Wednesday.....

Watched a bit of Idol inbetween. It wasn't good. Nuff said.

Tried to read a bit of stuff for essay due next week, but it was very boring. Read like a page of the textbook, then was very tired - about 11:30.

"Ah, the old 'take over the world' ploy" - Jonathan, The Mummy Returns

Got up about 9:30. Not a bad sleep......cept it was too hot in the morning.

Watched week 4 of lectures straight through. Ahhh, sooo boring....

Went to two different shopping centre places, cos I had to get steak from Coles. Yees. Also bought a younger Grandpa Simpson. And, finally some Tic Tacs.
Some time ago, maybe a year or so, I went shopping at the usual Woolworths in Subi, and got some tic tacs. But, because they were so small, they somehow fell in with other stuff and weren't paid for. Anyway, so I tried for a little while after that to figure out a way of paying more (we're talking like 99c here) for something....Guess I forgot about that.
So last week I thought I'd buy some tic tacs - just to have something to do with my mouth, or something. And it gets home and they're not there. I don't know if I paid for them or not - I'm guessing I did. So it kinda evens out. Needless to say, this time I was keeping a close eye on where they were.

Watched The Mummy Returns in the afternoon, cos I'd been meaning to for some time.

Started watching American Beauty on TV. Then I remembered that I don't really like that film. So I saw a little of Striking Distance, but that looked a bit stoopid. So I spent most of the night going through songs - am considering buying two albums, being the Chili Peppers Greatest Hits and Animals by Pink Floyd. The latter, at least, I need to have a better listen to, cos I don't have much idea what its like. The former, though, there's at least 5 songs that I would rate as 4 stars or more.

Went to bed about 12:30.

"Woke up this morning, got yourself a gun" - A3

Yes. Yes! Was watching some TV....I guess it was probably during Miss Congeniality, and they showed this ad for a new series called Rome. And it looked OK, but they I realised that its on cell night, and I'll be taping Thank God You're Here from before, so I can't watch it anyway. Which I didn't really care about, cos it probably won't be that good.
But then, after Rome....its The Sopranos, and what I assume must be season 6. I can only pray that this week will be the first episode. And, it starts at 10:40, so I should be able to get home in time. Hooray! Even though I've heard that its very weird and crappy. But, for now...hooray!

Woke up very tired again. So I didn't make lunch or eat breakfast.

Very slow half day of work. Ate some biscuits. It was paradise, it really was......

Got a hot chocolate from the coffee guy. He was doing the two-up thing like from last week, and I won so I got it for free. Surprisingly, it still tasted kinda OK......

Drove Mogli down to the Licensing Centre at lunchtime. Had to wait a while, but this time his plates were right - yay! Then went back to the office and had lunch. Then I left.
It was nice and boiling on the way home.

Almost straight away, walked down to Bankwest and withdrew all my money - in cash, and they didn't charge any fees (I actually got 9 cents rounding bonus). Then I walked down to ANZ and deposited most of it. Then I walked back. Super. But very warm. Surprising to see the amount of people still wearing long pants though, esp. cos most of them were uni people.

Kept watching part of Gandhi. He finally moved back to India.

Then I went down to the post office to pick up a parcel from midweek. They mentioned that it was the wrong post office, not at Broadway but down Stirling Highway. So I went there and picked it up instead.

Finished watching Gandhi. Quite a good film, and I now feel slightly confident that I know at least a little about his life, including that he was assassinated - I didn't know that.

Watched Miss Congeniality at night. Great film......................
Yes.

Went to bed just after 11........really tired, as per usual.

Thursday, September 14, 2006

Mr Burns: "They sing without juicers. They sing without blenders. They sing without flunjers, capdabblers and smendlers!"

Was insanely tired this morning. I was too tired to make breakfast, so I just sat around for 10 minutes. Then I made lunch. The events unfolded such that I didn't need to, although it can be salvaged for tomorrow.

So the big topic was the Rock Star verdict, at 10AM WST. And Mogli and W& were betting who would win, with the loser having to treat the winner to KFC. But that is only 2 out of 4, so they gave me the other two. And, the worst result - Mogli's guy won (Lucas). So he was going on about how great it was, etc. It was painful. Anyway, the original plan was to go on Friday, cos they were gonna wait until tonight to see the result on TV. But since the result was known already, and for some other reason (I guess - I was with the partner guy for one and a half hours in the middle there), we decided to go today instead.
We went down there in W&s car which is like my dream car (of the affordable nature) - an updated version of my car from 5 years ago - the 'new' beetle.
So Mogli go the boneless stuff, and it took ages for them to do it, and then it was small and not that nice, apparently. I tried to point out that he was getting it for free, but that didn't stop the complaints. Spent most of the lunch updating W& with office politics. Well, Mogli was, cos I don't know nothing.

Ordered some stuff from Amazon. I was mainly doing it cos Mogli wanted some Motley Crue thingy that is not available in this country. But, that only assisted me in getting The Matrix Revolutions and Le Fifth Element.

Had to review some of Mogli's work in the afternoon. It wasn't that hard, and didn't take very long. How interesting.....
I'm not saying no more about that (re: with increased responsibility....).

Watched The Simpsons, then Futurama, then the end of Chocolat. It ended well, but most of the rest of it was dull, and the characters were way too 1-dimensional. And it only ended well cos it was happy and that, but it was quite shallow and predictable.

Then I watched My Name is Earl, which was OK but all told in flashback. Then I started watching Gandhi - he's in South Africa, though, so I don't know what's going on.
Then I watch Ronnie Johns, which was generally better than the last two weeks, although the conversation between the two punk people wasn't as good, cos they moved off music onto movies.

Too bad. Went to bed too late. Cos I was doing stuff. Forget what.

Wednesday, September 13, 2006

Mr Burns: "Look at them all, through the darkness I'm bringing. They're not sad at all - they're actually singing!"

Nothing interesting in the morning.

Listened to a stream of 'Stairway to Heaven' in the morning, cos, apparently, according to channel nine and its stupid system of voting, it is the second best song of all time, and Mogli had never heard of it. Anyway, much to V's disgust, I'm sure, because a lot of us other office people were also shocked and appalled, Mogli didn't think much of it.

Applied for an Etrade account with ANZ in the afternoon. Not really cos I'm thinking about buying shares any time soon, but I'm thinking about thinking about it. And, according to the website there, it is free as long as you don't do any trading. So its there, just in case. I need a little bit more money, first. I think we worked out that I can currently afford to buy about 5 Commonwealth Bank shares - though that equates to about 50,000 Telstra ones; they can't even give those away at the moment. Its like that toilet roll from that Simpsons episode.

Was driving out to cell at about 7:20, and it appeared that due to 'goodness knows for what reason' roadworks just over the narrows, the merge-lane bit just after the Mill Point road exit had been moved up about 5 metres or so. Anyway, I must've been looking at that a little too intense, and the car two in front decided not to merge properly and stopped dead. Well, needless to say, I had to put my foot flat to the floor on the breaks, and it was a tense few seconds there as my car came as close to the one in front without touching it....I think. The stuff in my car sliding forward made a significant enough thumping that I might not've noticed an impact if there was one.

Watched a video about fasting. There was a quote from some guy named John Drinkwater. Ahhh, funny.

Got to bed about 11:30. I'm sure there was a good reason for that.

Tuesday, September 12, 2006

Bart: "Cupcakes. Cupcakes! Yes! Sweet cupcakes for all!"

Woke up at....um....7:47. Yes. Got to work about 8:20. It will thus probably be necessary to stay until 1 on Friday. Huh.

I had another one of those times when I laugh so hard that its very painful. We had training in the morning, as is actually becoming a like regular type thing. And for the first part of it, we did this 'quiz' where they spun a die to choose a letter, then there were all these sort of office related things that we had to pick starting with that letter - something in the fridge, something in the office, a clients name, an accounting firm name, a number, etc. Anyway, so the number happened to be 'B' - which wasn't an easy letter. I said 'big bananas' for the something in the fridge, then I said the same thing for something in the office. Anyway....
Sometime in mid-morning, me and Mogli were preparing ourselves, in the unlikely event that we ever do that quiz again, and its the same questions, and its the same letter. So I was looking for an office thing starting with B, and turned around and saw my bin, so I said 'bin'. Then 'bin with bag' then 'bin with black bag'. Then Mogli looked at the recycle bin and said 'big blue bin with black wheels'. I guess you had to be there again..........but it was painfully funny.
And then I thought of the perfect accounting firm......but I shall not speak that here. What V says I said was the devil....

Had to buy lunch. So I got something different - a hamburger. It wasn't bad, and it was also nice and cheap, so that was nice. Also got a choc chip muffin, which I warmed up but not enough. Ahhh....

Watched The Simpsons, then Futurama, then The Simpsons, then Futurama. Then there was nothing else, so I watched the final bit of Thank God You're Here, which mentioned that there was one segment available to download, so I did that too.

I started watching Chocolat after that. Unfortunately, its on tape, and the quality is not great - it has a fuzzy moment about every 45 seconds. And while the show seems to be alright and has potential, it seems to be moving too fast, actually. Like there are too many characters, or something. I feel its gonna end up like Pay it Forward, where they focus on the wrong people.

Ah, well. Read a bit more of my textbook, like another section. It was about 11 by then, or so.

Monday, September 11, 2006

"Mom, dad? This is Judy - she's my friend" James Dean, Rebel Without a Cause

Woke up with alarm at 7. Stayed in bed till about 7:45.

Worked 9-11. Yeah.....it was real urgent.

Had some nice rain on the way back. Nice in a 'difficult to see and almost crashing' kinda sense.

Finished off my ironing and watched Spartacus. A quite unlike Stanley Kubrick film - which is probably why he disowned it. A long show, but it didn't feel long. Lots of things which seemed to have been copied by Gladiator (apparently they're gonna make a sequel now...). Kirk Douglas looks almost exactly like his son, incidentally.

Did some accounts stuff - had to finish off the stuff for August, inc. the bank rec. It was real exciting.

Watched The Simpsons and Futurama, then part of the tape from last Wednesday, which was Futurama then most of Thank God You're Here. Then watched the final bit of the verdict of Australian Idol. Then watched two episodes of SVU, neither of which were super impressive. I'd actually seen the second one before; and the first one had some rock star who was giving his bad opinions of psychiatric drugs - which reminded me of Mogli and his Rock Star thing; I think mainly cos he looked kinda like one of the guys; Lucas, or whatever, without the weird dyed hair thing. Or all the bling-bling.

"Can you see yourself driving this bus? Then call us!" - Transperth

Was driving back from lunch with V, and saw the above sign on the back of a bus. So I can only assume that its an ad for a psychiatrist for people with multiple personality disorder....or perhaps an optometrist.

Went for lunch at good ol' Southlands. I had beef kway teow, which was good cos I managed to get rid of all bar 25c of my $10+ worth of change.
Told V about my credit card point earning woes. I think he was just about to offer to use Chan Brothers as the means for a fast-track to point earning heaven, but changed his mind. He also thought that the 'buying expensive piece of electrical equipment then returning it a few days later' would probably result in the reversal of points as well.
Then we were driving back and of the 6 or so streets off the left side of Collins road, about 3 had for sale signs. So I figured its probably just the same group of people who keep moving houses, and they're buying them on credit to get points. Yeah...... I don't think V agreed.
Then the same bus with the funny sign had some weird girl at the back who was waving. I obviously didn't know her, and V reckoned he didn't, so that was pretty strange.

Did my ironing (well, most of it) while watching Rebel Without a Cause. There was that 'you're tearing me apart!' bit, that was great. Then I was just waiting for the scene which was acted out by Christopher during 'acting for writers' class on The Sopranos, but that didn't come till right at the end. Most of the middle was uncomfortable to watch, cos it was the three heroes/losers getting in difficult situations. Yep. Super.

Went for dinner at 13's place (o wasn't there - or, at least, wasn't supposed to be). But 13 was doing work, and I watched Star Wars Episode II on Foxtel. Then Australian Idol was like half over and 13 insisted on watching that - despite most of the people sucking. Then it was like 9 o'clock, so we just ordered Dominos by using the internet. Yay! But o picked them up on the way back from wherever, so she was there; see?
Watched a bit of Rock Star - I don't know what Mogli sees in it. So I watched some stand up, then most of Ed, then Becker, then Just Shoot Me. Then it was almost midnight, so I left.

Slept a bit past 12:30. It probably would've been later, but the internet was being real slow again.

Saturday, September 09, 2006

Mr Burns: "Its the first annual...Montgomery Burns....award for outstanding achievment in....the field of....excellence!"

Got up about 9:30. Spent until about 2 watching week 3 lectures. We had some guest lecturer guy, who spoke with an American accent, which for some reason makes me believe he was very intelligible. I don't really know why, since I don't have high opinions of American intellectuality, generally. But in Christian evangelical circles....hmm.
Anyway, he actually didn't really say anything that I didn't already know. Cept maybe that Sikhs are montheists, which is weird cos the Indian Prime Minister is a Sikh, while most Indians are very polytheistic Hindus. And also that that third holiest Muslim mosque thingy in Jerusalem is actually built on the exact site of the old Jerusalem temple. I might've been able to guess that, but....nyeh.

Went shopping, and bought more dye. Yay. I might wait a while before I do it, though. I kinda like this like chocolate-orange colour in the sun and that.
Got more movies - I happened, purely by chance, to find Ghandi on video under the 'special interest' section - made my day. Even when they told me they had American Psycho, and they didn't. I also got Chocolat on video (under Arthouse, along with Pulp Fiction - what the?), cos I saw the preview on The English Patient DVD, and it made me want to rush out and get it. Also got The Towering Inferno, Rebel without a Cause and Spartacus (ai...Stanley Kubrick).

Got KFC for lunch - the boneless dinner box again. Actually, I wanted the double BBQ bacon cheeseburger thingy, but I forgot about that.

Watched The Towering Inferno first. It was quite long, but the special effects actually looked quite real, and the general storyline seemed quite realistic, too. Except that it was a terribly unsafe building - as in, ridculously so. Nevermind....

Watched The Sound of Music, cos it was on TV. Yep.

Pretty much went to bed after that.

Friday, September 08, 2006

Engineer guy: "Solar power! When will people learn?"

Got up about 6:40. Still ready in plenty of time, and I didn't trust my milk for cereal, so got to work fairly early.

Nothing much happening there. Cept for that fire. Which was probably way more exciting than it actually was. I was planning to walk down there when I got off, but it seemed everything was over already.

Watched The Pink Panther, which was the final film from last Saturday. Was incredibly unfunny - except for Peter Sellers bumping into stuff, and the occasional other thing, it moved slow and didn't really go anywhere. And then suddenly it kinda came to a rather irritating conclusion. Yeah.

Downloaded the sources for my assignment. Yeah, I should probably start that. Oh well.

Absolutely nothing on TV, most of my usual shows being cancelled by football, and the good movies not being on till too late.
So, I watched The English Patient instead. And, really, it wasn't half bad. Although it did get too long towards the end, and it turned out that most of the characters were quite unlikable. And, really, the main story didn't go anywhere; the story was 90% flashback, which is never the best way to do things. But at least it wasn't nearly as boring as I predicted. Nishe.

Homer: "Mmmmm, hammer"

Got a mocha from the coffee guy in the morning with one and a half - and it actually tasted not half bad. I was sipping it fairly slowly, so even by the time I got to the city it wasn't all done, but it was getting fairly cold by then, so had to through part of it away. And it wasn't so super that I was crying about that.

Was at client's office till 3:30. Nothing exciting happening, cept they were talking about some world record attempt that Perth did, beating some place in Canada, to do with 191,000 people, or something. I donno.....

Had lunch, then registered, finally, for pay anybody access on internet banking. I was then discussing with Mogli to brainstorm about ways to get more credit card points, but the doors I thought were open were shut just as quickly with a call to the bank hotline.

Left at 5. I was worried about it raining - and now its 10:30, and I still haven't heard anything.

Finally finished American Graffiti. It really didn't get much better. Maybe a bit. A few more scenes with Harrison Ford, including racing one of the heroes and rolling his car which burst into flames, but noone was seriously injured. Yeah, good music, maybe. And realistic, maybe. But not particularly entertaining.

Watched Futurama, then My Name is Earl, then David Tench, then Ronnie Johns.
Am seriously considering not watching David Tench or Ronnie Johns anymore. Tench is still OK, but its getting a bit the same. Ronnie Johns barely made me crack a grin, except with the punkophiles talking again, and Chopper at the end, trying to keep within the swear counter so the show could stay within its 9pm timeslot.
"I went to big day out"
"Me too. Did you see the food?"
"I don't eat"
"I mean The Food - they were on stage 3"
"That's pretty underground. What about that line for The Portaloos?"
"Did you go in the mosh pit?"
"The mosh pit is for those people that actually want to hear. I sat right at the back facing away from the stage with earphones listening to a podcast of the exact song they were playing on stage"
"That's really underground"
"It would've been better live, though"
Aaaah....so funny....

And then I waited till 10 to watch The Daily Show, and apparently its been cancelled after like 5 episodes. Grrrrr.

So I went to bed slightly earlier.

Wednesday, September 06, 2006

Homer: "I know you love me, so you don't get squat!"

Was ready by about 6:50, but didn't have to make lunch, cos I had pizza left over from last night. So got to work by about 7:20. Super.

Really, really slow day. And everyone seemed to think so. I was mainly doing this client who had bad accounts in bad format. It was pretty bad.

Had a long discussion with Mogli at lunchtime about church stuff. We were kinda reminiscing about old catholic songs, and there was this one (I think 'This is the Day', but I'm not sure); so we enacted doing it in some marching band. It was hell funny (excuse the pun), but you probably had to be there.

Mogli bought a mocha from the coffee guy. I told him he shouldn't - and, apparently, it ended up making his stomach go weird, and it was really bitter, as per usual. I got muffins - that's two for $2, but they were quite small. And the chocolatey chocolate one tasted weird.

Was planning to get the kitkat chunky cookie dough in the charity bucket thingy, but I was feeling too full and that, so I didn't.

Did my washing, then kept watching American Graffiti. Finally saw Harrison Ford in one tiny little scene - but at least it was obviously him. Unlike Richard Dreyfuss who is almost impossible to tangibly recognise. Its still quite a dull show.

Went to some persons house. At two pieces of cake, then left. The clock said 10:40, but it must've been really fast, cos I got home and hung my washing out and it was still only 11.

Went straight to sleep after that. For all intents and purposes, anyway.

Tuesday, September 05, 2006

Homer: "Whatever you tell your child to do, he will always do the opposite"

Homer's Brain: "Yeah, y'know, like reverse psychology"
Homer: "That sounds too complicated"
Homer's Brain: "OK, don't use reverse psychology"
Homer: "Alright, I will!"

Got up at 7:15....ai. No time for nothing.

After training, which was really exciting, went down to a clients place to do stuff. Came back at about 12:30.
Was surprised to see The Coffee Guy AKA Greg AKA Tom, evidently back from holidays. Super. Especially since Zidane had gone AWOL since last Tuesday.

Had to buy lunch. Wanted a choc chip muffin, but there weren't any, so I got chips on the side instead.

Afternoon was very draggy. By 4:30 or so, I was irritating Mogli by humming 'Blue Moon'. It sort of like just came out - not sure how. One minute I was playing 'Make You Feel Better' by the Peppers in my head, then nothing, then 'Blue Moon'. Yeah....I think it was that time of the afternoon.

Got some jeans what I got from ebay. I think the colour on my monitor lied to me, cos they're not as blue as I thought. And they were quite stiff, cos they're new, so I put them in the washing straight away. I decided to order two more things from ebay, and based on that I shall see if its worth buying anything more. The trouble is its often hard to tell the intricacies of design, such as how thick the material is, etc.

Started watching American Graffiti. I definitely picked Charles Martin Smith (from the Untouchables), and I think I got Richard Dreyfuss (based on the voice only) - but I haven't recognised Harrison Ford yet, although hes only a co-star, so it may be that he has a quite small role. Not a great film so far - maybe those 'grew up in the 60s' people would like it, and maybe its an accurate presentation of that era; like Grease, or something, but who cares? That doesn't make it interesting...

Went to a church meeting. Saw V, but we both arrived late, and then I left early(er), so not really much chance for 'conversation' (with French accent).

Had Broadway for dinner. It was OK, but I only managed two pieces, despite the fact that I recall that I was fairly hungry. Sneh.

Read a few sections in chapter 2 of my textbook. Its great. Really.

Monday, September 04, 2006

Apu: "He slept, he stole, he was rude to the customers. Still, there goes the best damned employee a convenience store ever had!"

Got up about 9:30, after not sleeping all that well and waking up a few times. Got a call at about 8:30, for example, from the guy who wanted to know why I wasn't working, and sounding grumpy about it, even though I said that I was back doing classes now and, if anything, I would be coming in less. Bah.

Went to the city for an appointment to hand in FCC accounts at 11. I only had 5 10c pieces (from yesterday), so I only got 13 minutes in the meter, which would've run out before the actual meeting even started. It ended about 11:30, or so, I guess. But I didn't see no ticket....

Watched week 2 of lectures straight through - more tedious, boring stuff. Still about history and background - yuck!
Ate a Kit-Kat Chunky Honeycomb, which wasn't really very good. Had a normal picnic too, which was great. Finished off my coffee machine coffee - the ground, yucky kind. So back to starbucks beans - hooray! Even though they're quite old - but beans should be able to keep their freshness better. Supposedly.

Watched The Cell while doing my ironing. Visually interesting, perhaps, but severely lacking in terms of plot. Cos, actually, the whole point of going into his head was to:
1) Find out where the girl was and then
2) Save him from his mad self.
So for point 1, they really only discovered where the girl was from the marking on the bench from his house. Now, that memory was triggered by seeing the marking inside the mind thingy, but if they did their work properly they wouldn't have needed that.
And for point 2, all she did was kill the guy. And she didn't need a mind meld to do that.
So, yeah, pretty stupid, really. Plus they tried to rip-off Silence of the Lambs too much.

Watched Ong Bak after that. The fighting was OK, but the plot and the acting was quite terrible - and some of the choreography was lacking, too. Personally, I find Jackie Chans stuff much better, cos he mixes up the fighting by using props, etc. This stuff got really boring towards the end.

Watched both episodes of SVU. The second was a very new episode - its the second last from season 7, which is the latest season. And that was disturbing, but not really anything out of the ordinary of the usual. But the first was about a serial killer impersonating another serial killer, who left clues that had to be solved in a hurry. That was great - and then the bad guy was Percy of The Green Mile - Doug something-or-other. A superb episode.

Read till the end of chapter 1 of my textbook. Now up to the bit about background. Great.....bound to be as interesting as the lectures, I'm sure.....

Rev. Lovejoy: "Be they Jew, Christian or.....miscellaneous"

I was debating with myself in the morning about what I would wear - cos my choice in light coloured shirts, due to the dark coloured pants, is rather limited, and I had the shirt from yesterday, but it hangs in a rather shabbily type way, plus its quite old and has holes.....its just looks like a very 'round the house' type piece of clothing.
And then I saw V after the service, and pretty much the first thing he said was "so, you just woke up and came to church, then". Yeah..... I usually don't like being so obvious. I think, also, I really do need to shave more with the shorter hair thingy.

Went for lunch at Yucki, so there you go. Actually, the plan was to go to Taurus with various other people, but Taurus was full. And then, they were actually going to Singapore Hawkers, but other people have saved the table unbeknownst of how many there would be. And the rest of it was full. So, of cos, Yucki was like the only place with room, although not that much.
And, finally, V had something other than fish terriyaki, cos I had to remind him that last time he mentioned that the chicken cats curry what I had looked nice. So we both had that. I neglected to ask him what it was like - mainly cos its my fault if it sucked. Which it probably did.
Discussed the possibility of Arnie and Hillary getting the presidency/vice presidency ticket. V decided it was pretty unlikely, since they're on opposing parties. Aahhh, too bad.

Went to 13 & o's house after that, since V had to go and write some thesis, or something. They weren't there, but I took their keys and watched some Foxtel anyway. Watched some stand-up, then a bit of SVU, where the blonde attorney what everyone seemed to like go sent into witness protection, which I guess opened the door to that redhead one. Wow.
Then watched part of Kicking and Screaming, cos there was nothing else on. And, its the first time I've been there that they've had the movie channels enabled, so I felt it my duty.

Had a CMC meeting from 4-6:30. Lovely. Well, it was long, but it didn't feel long. At least, not that long. Really.

Returned 13 & o's keys, then went and got KFC for dinner, again (as I did yesterday). But, whereas yesterday I got the large crispy strip combo, this time I got the regular toasted sweet chili twister combo. And whereas yesterday I went to Subiaco which was crowded cos there was a football game on or something (as in the suburb, not the drivethrough - that was so dead I had to wait at the window for a good minute before I was noticed), this time I went to the one on High Road in Willeton. Which always has a huge drivethrough line. And, finally, got rid of nearly all my irritating change bar 60c made up of 10c and 5c.

Watched Under the Tuscan Sun, cos the other two films on at the same time (Intolerable Cruelty and Terminator 3) I had already seen, and they weren't that good. Plus, I had to honestly prove to myself that Frae Dizzle has really, really bad taste. And I was right, as usual. Watched probably about half of it, and something finally happened (after buying the house) in that she met someone. Yet, despite that apparently she was so emotionally fragile after her divorce, knowing this guy for less than half a day she makes a desperate plea for a meaningful, physical relationship. I had to stop watching, else I would've been violently ill. A film worse than Beaches....
I mean, as bad as Timeline was.....

Went to bed about 11. Read another section in my textbook. I thus must be about halfway through the introduction.....and its week 3, now.

"Y'know what I'm going to have for breakfast? A great big pile of blueberry pancakes!" - Fabienne, Pulp Fiction

Ahh....a case of life imitating art, although quite on purposefully. If it was just my choice, I would've had the plain vanilla ones. Also, technically it was my lunch - but the menu said it was breakfast. It was sort of a brunch, actually, I guess.

Got up at about 8:30. Had some more weird dreams - mainly involving some woman burglar. Anyway, it was kinda freaky.

Went shopping at 9:30. Got quite a lot of stuff, although I forgot to get some more extreme dye. I got some more coffee - trying the 'Joe's one.....for obvious reasons. But also its priced reasonably and is by Nescafe and is just a simple mocha - so hopefully it should be OK. Got rice bubbles too - hooray!

Went for my brunch thingy with my dad after that, just at Tiamo's. No particular reason - hes just around for a week or so.

Watched Psycho after that. The only other Hitchcock film that I've seen (I think) is Rear Window, and I found that quite dull and thus disappointing. Now, of cos, due to like censorship and technology problems and what-not, the action scenes in the film are quite.....lame...., but the build-up of suspense is really quite well done. I actually think Norman Bates, when he was Norman Bates, was a little too normal, and I doubt any schizophrenic is really so well-balanced. But anyway..... A well told story, although most people still did stupid things, like going down into the cellar instead of out the front door when the crazy guy has just run into the house.....

Then did some accounts stuff, essentially finishing off August and the appropriate sheets. Hooray! Wait, I've already used hooray.... Great.

Watched The Birds after that. Now, once the first bird attack started, at minute (45 out of 115), then the film was quite good, even though, of cos, due to the same reasons as the above, the bird attacks themselves were quite fake. But some of the single shots of corpses with their eyes and faces pecked out were rather freaky, and the big bird attack with some exploding petrol and them attacking the heroine in a telephone box didn't look anywhere near as fake. And the final scene most of all, but others with the birds just sitting around made me wonder how they did it.
But, mainly, there was too much unrelated personal irrelevant (to the thriller genre) stuff at the start. But some of the psychological build-up, and the conclusion were quite well done. And Alfred Hitchcock's self-guided tour trailer (for Psycho as well), were superb features.
Oh, and it made me really want to get a pet birdy. How ironic....

Finally ate Subway cookies. I got three for $2 - which was a good thing, cos as good as the white chocolate macadamia was (and it wasn't the best thing ever - I don't know what Mogli's on, really), but the black cookie with the white chocolate stuff in it was really quite superb. And they're not toooo expensive.....I guess.

Watched most of Practical Magic - well, maybe half. Or a bit less. I had seen it before, anyway. And its nothing superly special.

Watched Beaches after that; and thats a tradgedy, cos Spy Game was on the other channel, and thats quite a good film - at least, the bits about Muir in the CIA building. The bits with Brad Pitt in the field aren't really very nice, except for some of the recruitment stuff. But, I'd seen that a few times, and I've never watched Beaches. Quite a dull film, which is supposed to be about a 'lifelong friendship', but its really just about their seperate lives. The biggest part of the film is about them not liking each other. Then, of cos, one dies of cancer. Some of Bette Midler's songs were OK - certainly the best part of the movie.

Went to bed after that. It was past midnight, after all.

I'm not usually so patriotic.... (hah!) but I can't resist. There's only been three games, but this is still long overdue. My team is 3rd! And that's actually equal second (with two others)! Hah! Drawing with Arsenal (and that away) then beating both Reading (whoop-di-do) and Newcastle at home. Next week they're facing a half-decent team away (I think its Middlesborough, or something) so the dream may not last long.....but I can still dream. And, once again, curse Foxtel/SBS for taking the weekly highlight show off free-to-air TV. Aaaaarggghghh....

"Not only was there no outcome, there wasn't even an income"

An original quote, by me. Cos I had a meeting with the boss, and Mogli was suggesting that maybe this was a pay review, though I told him it wasn't as far as I could tell. So then he mentioned it to another work colleague (who shall not be named), and said that there was no outcome.....
yes.

Was very tired this morning, cos I went to bed past 11 last night. Been having some freaky dreams recently....I had one a few nights ago about a famous actor who I think was (in terms of voice) someone along the lines of Robert DeNiro, though he looked like Jason Lee of My Name is Earl (ie, like Earl), who was doing a "Sam Neil re: those 'eat red meat' ads" like impersonation, by explaing the mystery's of planet Earth from the eyes of intelligent creation. It was most fascinating, especially cos he was travelling to the place he was talking about, in better-than-life colours and something akin to computer-generated like 3D. So when, for example, he was explaining about how high the top of the sky is above the ground, he and the POV rose gradually up through these fairly obvious layers of biosphere. Anyway....I can't really remember specifics, unfortunately.

Mogli finally tried the really bad coffee, and it didn't taste so bad - he actually quite liked it, although I still was put off. But it works better with more vigorous stirring and less water.

Arranged to put World Vision and my car insurance on my new Visa. Then I got my new bankcard in the mail, so I walked down to ANZ to enter a pin number, and also get access to that account on my credit card - which apparently has to be entered as cheque, not savings. Anyway, I think the old guy before me left his mobile phone, cos just when I was about to leave it rang, so they said "don't forget your phone" and I go "its not mine" so they go "well its ours now" so I just shrugged and left.
Then I went up to the Japanese place and got Terriyaki chicken. Hooray!

Started watching Leaving Las Vegas, and also started my washing. It wasn't a great film - just too hopeless people living out their lives, sometimes with each other and sometimes not. However, I did notice Linda (the ditzy receptionist from Becker) was one of the girls that Nicholas Cage tried to chat up, and got himself into a fight cos her boyfriend was right alongside at the time.

Drove out to FCC and got the account stuff, cos its month end and it needs to be done by Sunday afternoon. So that was great.

Then I came back and died my hair. The colour said "champagne blonde", but it turned out much more champage than blonde - ie, its got a slightly orange-ish tinge. Not much else - a lot more subtle than I was aiming for. And the stuff affected my skin a lot more than my hair, making it rather darker. I blame Clairol - I think Loreal is a far superior brand. Garneir is no good either. I think I'm just gonna try and more straight blonde one next time, but not leave it in so long. Or something. I guess.

Watched Futurama, The Simpsons, Everybody Hates Chris and then Bridget Jones' Diary. Then I was really rather tired, and needing to get up early for shopping, so I went to sleep.
